Haven't posted for long time but do still keep an eye on posts and glean as much knowledge as possible. This probably a for info post. Fully vaccinated(well 3), now we can have fourth. Dreaded CoVid struck on Sunday(RAT test positive). Symptoms were there, thank goodness I was Vaccinated. Anyhoo, during night Mon morning AF kicked in. Was a wee bit worried as fevers and lethargy were also prevalent. AF on and off for last 10 years still on PIP. Flecainide and Metropolol. 100mg Flec and 25g Met each dose. Max 300 in 24 hr period. Thankfully heart back in after third dose after about 14 hours. Was also taking cold and flu for fevers, all medications did cause nausea but in end all aided symptoms. Third day and now annoying cough and wee but breathlessness. Apologies for length of post(I must have credits up my sleeve for lack of posts). Wanted to share in event other people have or might have similar experiences. Stay safe everyone 🙏

Think you may have to wait a month after you test negative to have your fourth vaccination now. This happened to my sister for the first vaccination too. Now all of us have had at least three if not four vaccinations now. Luckily we have not caught it yet so really hoping it stays that way! It’s a bother that you may have to wait longer for your fourth vaccination but just glad that you sound like you got away lightly with symptoms - although your AF did kick in for a while. Let’s hope you get back to normal very soon.
Covid put me into AF/A flutter 12 weeks ago, not come out of it yet despite increased bisoprolol and also starting on digoxin. Waiting for gp to act on consutant's instruction to issue Sotalol. Hopefully that will put me back in NSR.
I also tested positive for Covid for the first time yesterday having had the three vaccinations.
During the last four days my Apple Watch has notified me of AFIB but when I check what I am seeing is ectopic heartbeats which my Kardia confirms as Supraventricular Ectopy, and I am now wondering if this was the Covid starting to affect my body. Fortunately, my symptoms have been fairly benign, more like a summer head cold, unlike my wife, who had headaches and was laid low for three days.
Back in February, I had what I thought was a cold, but since then, my Heart Rate Variability has risen from under 100msec to over 200 msec, and I am wondering whether I had Covid then, although I tested negative. I wonder whether Covid has affected my heart?
With regard to the "Cold and Flu" medicine you are taking, I suggest that you check that it does not include caffeine - the Panadol "Cold and Flu" version has, and that might impact your heart rhythms. Caffiene is something that I avoid, only plain paracetamol for me.
I have a similar "Heart Rate Variability" feature on my FitBit watch. My numbers are much lower than yours, BUT......I have not found anything in the literature to explain what, if anything this shows! The "blurbs" I read about HRV just say the "meaning is unclear".....which I take to mean as they don't have a clue. Have you found anything more definitive than that?
What were you taking regarding cold and flu medicines. As Browng says check the contents. It is generally advised that if you have AF you do not take Ibrubrufen, only paracetamol or codiene for pain relief or cold and flu symtoms. Most over the counter cold and flu medications contain ibruprofen, caffine and also decongestants are a problem, they increase the heart rate. Hope things are improving now and you are feeling better. I have had all 4 jabs and no covid so far. I know of a few people who have had covid recently so I am keeping my distance from most people as I have surgery in a few weeks time so do not want covid to scupper that. Keep safe.Cassie
Thank you for reply/comments. Tbh I don't believe I had taken any medication prior to AF onset. Yes I was careful in regards to medications taken. To add to previous post. Heart back in Mon, AF back Tues night(last night). Finally back in tonight. Not having much fun with CoVid monster. Not taking any other meds now. Only took my Flec and Met. Took a while for Flec to kick in. Was up around 220 a couple of times, hasn't been that high for long time. Good Luck for surgery, stay safe.
Forgot to add I did take some Lozenges and wasn't sure about cough medicine. So didn't partake in the cough medicine. Did also have panadol but whilst taking second lot of AF meds didn't take any other medication. Hopefully next couple of days medication free and a wee bit of Vitamin D. In back yard of course😉
Having had several discussions with work colleagues and family it appears that CoVid effects range from extreme to mild. As stated in post my dodgy ticker didn’t appreciate CoVid and quite possibly the medication I took.
Took me at least a week to be on the mend AF and major symptoms wise. Compulsory week of mask wearing(which I didn’t mind) , I found it hard to get enough air into lungs. I still wear mask on public transport but not in workplace.
Getting better now re lungs but last month did have some breathlessness and was coughing up some not so nice phlegm. Had one more bout of AF about a week ago but PIP eventually fixed that, don’t believe it was CoVid related.
