Lap done, next steps...
I had my first laparoscopy on Thursday to remove endometriomas from both ovaries, check my tubes and the extent of my endometriosis. My surgeon was there when I came around and as I was still very 'out of it' just said it had all gone well & he'd come and see me the next day with more details. As

Stage 4 and scared....no....make that terrified!!!
18 months ago we made the decision to try for baby. I'd been on the pill for around ten years on and off and as a nurse i knew that it may take some time for my body to settle down and adjust to the differnce in hormone levels. I had my first period off the pill in june on time and without any issues

Has anyone been successful with IVF first time with stage 4 Endo?
I was diagnosed with stage 4 Endo in January. I have a a complex cyst to my left ovary and was told that my bowel was adhered to my uterus and bladder and that both my tubes are blocked. My consultant says that I need major surgery to basically unstick my bowel which could involve bowel resection and

Do you irrigate?
Irrigation is a somewhat under-promoted method in the UK for managing some types of colostomy, where rather than wearing a bag you empty the bowel when you flush it with water. It would be nice to make more people aware of this topic. I have been approached by someone doing research into it, and

Up and down !
I am ashamed of snapping at people but get very frustrated with feet and hands that do not feel and feet that stumble because the balls and the toes are dead! A brain that functions at half speed and a body I hate! A colostomy that misbehaves on occasions! when "normal" people have diarrhoea it does

Latest on the boob!
I feel like a pin cushion. On Thursday I saw the Onc, who disccussed RT and warned me that it could cause further tumours to develop in 15 to 20 years! I fell about laughing! Even without the OC I would hardly be banking on another 15 years at my age! Then I had the boob drained (250 ml of fluid from

Is a colostomy a good solution?
Hi, I have been living with some form of IBS for almost 9 years now. It has made me housebound over time due to uncontrollable diarrhea, and now i have just recently became a dad and i feel its about time i gave up on the trial and error of untold amounts of tests and treatments and go for a colostomy

Dear All! I promised an account of my journey so far to help, if I can, others to put this awful condition in perspective so here goes! In 2009 I was approaching my 69th birthday and enjoying life working 3 days a week for CAB. I was running an outreach centre twoo days a week and overseeing the

My ICU story and after.....
On the morning of 17th July 2007 I was particularly happy. Summer Term had just ended so I had 6 weeks of holiday from my Teaching Assistant job ahead, my husband was coming back from a 3 week research visit to Australia on Friday and my first grandchild was due in August. Life seemed very good – I was

should I seek compensation for not been told about complications of surgery?
I had lower bowel cancer and needed an APER to remove the rectum to be left with a permanent colostomy. At no point before the operation I was given advice or information regarding other complications of this surgery i.e. impotency, retrograde ejaculation, along with urine expulsion at the time of orgasm

Having adown day
Sorry girls! Take no notice! Most of my probs are to do with refusal to grow old gracefully! Cannot take the failure of the epidural to reduce the pain, not unendurable but wearing! And I drink too much red wine! It is OK! only a bottle or two a week, as daughter of a 'heavy drinker' and an alchoholic

Biopsy Results not the best.
Had results of biopsy on Tuesday and must admit they could have been better. Diagnosed as stage 4 with no grading, don't know why but will find out. Had the surgery report and that was not brilliant either. Had TAH with all the usual bits removed plus part of the bowel and rectum. Wasn't surprised at
