Colchicine, gout and heart conditions
I've got atherosclerosis (1 stent) & permanent atrial fibrillation. Recently, after having bad gout flares am going to take allopurinol. The Doctor said that I should start the allopurinol 1 month after my last gout flare up (which I've still got). Unfortunately, he is not prescribing colchicine because

Pericarditis and pericardial effusion recovery
I had pericarditis and an effusion in December , latest echo scan showed that all the fluid has reabsorbed , no evidence of any scarring , really pleased . I get pain by my ribs on both sides, when I lean forward it’s like there’s something pressing on the inside . I have no idea what is causing the

Pericarditis / Colchicine
This may be of interest to the forum. Other similar experiences out there? What happened in your cases? I had viral pericarditis which lead to Atrial Fibrillation, and Flutter a long time ago. I've had two Radiofrequency Cardiac Ablations spaced 4.5 years apart. Pericarditis returned - though not

Post Ablation pain
I had an Ablation done last Friday 9th April. Since then I have had pain in my chest which I have been told is Pericardial inflammation. I have been taking Colchicine, Codiene and Paracetamol. I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this and how long it lasted for. It doesn't seem to be improving

Newly Diagnosed
Hello Everyone. Newly diagnosed with pericarditis after weeks of recurrent palpitations, fatigue and chest pains. Currently on Ibuprofen and just started colchicine. Palpitations are my major worrying symptoms and keep me up at night. Anyone else going through this?

Pericarditis - Am I getting better or is this developing into something worse
I’m 24 years old. I am in good physical health. I have got diagnosed with pericarditis just under 3 months ago. I went into A&E with chest pain and back pain, felt like I’d pulled a muscle in my back and turned out to be pericarditis. I was initially given colchicine for 2 weeks and told after to take

Vaccine reaction w BD & Food Sensitivities
I might suggest to those with food sensitivites and BD, to not take any food risks when getting the vaccine. After getting my second Pfizer vaccine yesterday, I ate something I am sensitive to today (chocolate w peanut butter) - which I can typically tolerate with just a mild response when I'm feeling

Quebec researchers say they have found an effective drug to fight COVID-19.
A team of researchers from the Montreal Heart Institute believe they have found an effective weapon against COVID-19: colchicine, an oral tablet already known and used for other diseases. For Dr. Jean-Claude Tardif, who led the study, this is a "major scientific discovery," he said. Colchicine is the

Oh ok, I admit it - not doing all that well the now
So please excuse in advance what will look like a lack of response here, and very short posts elsewhere on the forum. Short although not sweet - I'm fighting off another acute flare of my recurrent pericarditis and am being shoehorned in for an echo tomorrow to check for increased pericardial effusion

Pericarditis
This pericarditis has been with me for 3 months. On colchicine. Just when I thought it was gone, with a week free of all symptoms, it suddenly returned with the shortness of breath and palpitations. This has now happened on two occasions. Anyone else gone through this up and down recovery?

Blood clots and urticarial vasculitis syndrome
Hello everyone. I hope you are all feeling as well as can be. I wondered if anyone could tell me whether they have suffered blood clotting as part of lupus/ urticarial vasculitis syndrome ( or any other forms of vasculitis actually, as I'm not convinced that I only have the one type affecting small blood
