Help and advice
Hi. This is a post for both the thyroid and PA forum. I'd love a bit of advice and thoughts on my blood tests and history. A bit of background: I'm a 38 year old woman. In May this year I was diagnosed with hashimoto's in the presence of high anti-bodies and pernicious Aneamia with a positive test

Big thanks & somewhat confused!!!!!
Firstly a big thank you to all the fellow forum users for helping me last week. I asked about taking MTX, it was making me feel grotty, many of you suggested that I take it in the evening to try to alleviate the side effects. This week I did and I must say although I still had the side effects it was

Prepare for Doctors tomorrow.
Hi all, Thought I would post an update since the last time i posted on here. I have had my B12 results back and they were 127 ng/ml for B12 and 3.4 ng/ml for the Folate? So low on the B12 and I think borderline on the folate. The doctor's made me wait two weeks for what I thought was a second B12

'Normal' levels
Hi all. I'm new to this forum and still awaiting a diagnosis. I have been told I need a patrial thyroidectomy due to nodules and a large recurring cyst. Biopsy on fna was inconclusive. I have been having symptoms for several years, my gp sends me for blood tests. They all come back in normal range. I

B12 testing: I need some answers!
Hello All, I'm new here as I've just been diagnosed as having Biermer's disease, which I believe is another name for PA. I'm producing antibodies against intrinsic factor and my B12 is at 267, my ferritine is at 12 and my hemaglobin levels are just within the normal range, so not yet anemic, but very

B12 level interpretation
Hi I have just recently posted as Intrinsic Factor-AK antibodies tested a weak positive in a recent blood test. (I am also a registered Coelicac which was discovered when I was a baby.) However, no B12 and Ferritin tests were taken. For the past 2 years I have sporadically experienced water sensations

Test results - borderline lupus?
After a wait of over 2 months since I saw a rheumy and hearing nothing, I made an appointment to see my GP to see if she'd heard anything. Yes, all test results back, but very odd - a lot of borderline ones. She said I had "could have Lupus", it looks like it, but also some connective tissue disorder

My vit B12 deficiency- GP won't investigate further.
I've just been diagnosed with B12 deficiency and I'm having shots for it. I thought my GP would keep investigating the cause, but he told me they don't do that. My test for Pernicious Anaemia came back negative and that's where he's leaving it. I didn't understand his explanation about why, and when

B12 deficiency and liver stores of B12
My doctor and I are still trying to figure out what's wrong with me. I have a lot of symptoms that sound like B12 deficiency but my blood results show that I have about 2 years of B12 in my liver and my B12 level was just over 500 (can't remember exactly). She said my folate was a little high and I have

PA, deficiency and anxiety
Hi. I'm new here. I've had about four major episodes of anxiety and depression in my life. I'm 38 and just recovering from the fourth. All have rendered me unable to work in the time I was ill. I was recently diagnosed as b12 deficient due to my body destroying intrinsic factor and had a high level

Elbow Nodule & tenderness
Dear friends, Good morning to the UK from the states. Seeking some input this am: I've developed a marble-sized nodule on the extensor surface of my elbow. It is a soft tissue lump, but hard and fixed. I also have some tenderness in that elbow now. I'm a little concerned bc the lump seems to meet diagnostic

Intrinsic factor
I was just wondering what a negative result for the antibodies test would mean. I was diagnosed with pernicious anaemia with my b12 level being below 50pg, my MCV levels were enlarged and my folate level very low. Does having a negative result still mean it's pernicious anaemia? Anyone that could help

The Need for Better Antibody Tests
I have to start with a long story but I will eventually get to the point so please bear with me. In 2010 I was tested for celiac disease. The tests run were TT IgA, Gliadin IgA, Gliadin IgG, Reticulin IgA Autoabs, and Endomysial IgA Autoabs. The *only* test that came back positive in that group was

B12 from the liver to the body?
I have PA and was diagnosed in April after MRIs and Nerve conduction tests ruled out other neurological conditions. I have anti-bodies to Intrinsic Factor but NOT to Parietal cells. I understand that i can only get B12 into my system via injections. Here is my question. Once the B12 injections replenish
