I was just wondering what a negative result for the antibodies test would mean.

I was diagnosed with pernicious anaemia with my b12 level being below 50pg, my MCV levels were enlarged and my folate level very low.

Does having a negative result still mean it's pernicious anaemia?

Anyone that could help I would be appreciate it.

You can have a negative result for the IF test and still have PA. Unfortunately not all medics realise this. The chairman of the PAS (Pernicious Anaemia Society) tested negative on more than one occasion before he tested positive.

Have a look at the BCSH Cobalamin and Folate guidlines which mentions antibody negative pernicious anaemia especially page 29 which is a diagnosis flowchart.

Whoops link not working but you should find document if you google "BCSH Cobalamin and Folate guidelines".

Thank you sleepy bunny this has really helped.

Just spoken to the PA society too and that really did help. Off to my doctors today at 5.30 to try and push for more injections.

Really appreciate your help.
