Blood Tests to show if Calcium is being absorbed into the bones and not elsewhere....
My doctor insist that I take
calcium
supplements, which I have been taking, but how can we know if they are actually working? The explanation I was given was that the body adjusts the level of
calcium
.

Taking Calcium supplement when on Calcium Channel Blockers
this might be totally wrong but I’m thinking I shouldn’t be taking
calcium
supplement if on
calcium
channel blockers (verapamil). Can anyone confirm this?

Good diet so no need for Adcal?
GP asked about my diet and said I was getting plenty of
calcium
in my diet. He said
calcium
and Vitamin D levels were good on my last blood test and the DEXA scan last year was ok but if I was worried I could have another DEXA in a years time.

calcium supplement before reclast infusion
is it best to take a
calcium
supplement before my infusion, I have had a blood test prior to my infusion but a blood test doesn't really show how much
calcium
in your bones and I have been reading that reclast lowers
calcium
levels.

Low adjusted calcium level
Is there any link between thyroid issues and a low adjusted
calcium
level? Vitamin D is higher in the range around 100 (I take 3,000IU per day) plus was on a multivitamin as well.

calcium supplement
Heard of
calcium
supplement being prescribed for some friends (female). Is that something everyone on steroids should be taking?

Emphysema and Osteoporosis
The other thing I'll just mention, is that my blood
calcium
levels are good and I have a lot of
calcium
in my diet, but when I tried Vitamin D on its own - black eyed/dehydrated again. I do drink a lot of water. Sorry to sound so needy, but any advice would be much appreciated!

calcium through foods
how do you know if you are getting enough
calcium
through foods, I have just ordered 500mg of
calcium
citrate, I'm not messing around measuring this and measuring that, and the 20mg of famatodine that I take won't help, the
calcium
citrate I bought is 3 capsules =500mg, I think I will just take 2 a day

Low Potassium/High Calcium Caution
My potassium is VERY LOW despite eating a diet high in potassium, and my
calcium
was EXCEPTIONALLY HIGH even though I don't have a diet with excessive
calcium
. To give some context to this, my
Calcium
to Potassium ratio 17.91 and the "acceptable" range is 1.6 to 3.6.

Milk - what works best?
We know we need
calcium
but should the milk we drink be full fat or semi skimmed? Would we be better off with plant based ‘milks’, do they provide sufficient
calcium
? Is Lactose free milk a good thing?

Hike in T-Score due to steroid use. Worrying.
My question here is should I be taking K2 to direct the
calcium
to the bones and not the arteries? I intend to go back to the original higher dose of
calcium
.

A Blip in time!
My blood draws have been within limits for 18 months with only a blip in the blood
calcium
. Because of the blood
calcium
, I was recently diagnosed with hypercalcemia which led to a further diagnosis of hyperparathyroid disease.

High Calcium score AND CAD
K2 Mk7/vit D+
calcium
, chelation, high vit C etc etc etc Assuming regression of CAC was even possible, would we want to ? Surely we would just be disrupting the process of soft plaque calcification or disrupting already calcified safe plaque ?

An update…..and pins & needles
A warning about phosphorus and
calcium
though: I need
calcium
because of severe pins and needles but to take too much can be risky to the heart, kidneys etc. It’s a tricky area of medicine and like PA needs knowledge healthcare opinions.
