Taking Calcium supplement when on Calcium Channel Blockers
this might be totally wrong but I’m thinking I shouldn’t be taking calcium supplement if on calcium channel blockers (verapamil). Can anyone confirm this?

ADT and bone loss lost opportunity !?
there is /was so much to think about when I got the Gleason 9 diagnosis after 18 months of being told don’t worry it not high risk and so had failed HIFU. Stupid of me ! I got, with great difficulty a DEXA scan one month after starting LHRH agonist goserelin. No one told me I needed it, and given

Is anyone here familiar with metabolomic analysis?
I've heard about metabolomics only recently while listening to a Dr Berg podcast. In short, if I understood correctly, it differs from regular blood tests by looking for the concentration of things (like amino acids, minerals, polyphenol, etc...) within your cells rather than the concentration in your

Proximal Circumflex PCI
I posted recently about a Cardac stress MRI scan I was having and received lots of encouraging messages from this group so I wanted to share the results from this scan and the treatment I am having . My consultant rang me 2 days after my scan and told me that my results showed narrowing to the proximal

After Pluvicto #6 results
Finished my 6th and final Pluvicto and am now getting lab results. I see that somehow I neglected to put results after #5 -- may have been distracted by doctors freaking out that my kidney function was going down and my calcium shot up. My nuclear medicine doc made a judgement call to give me a full

Hashimotos for Sixteen Years, Realizing I Know Next to Nothing
This is a long story, and as with so much in this "we have too much info" age, I'm probably over-responding, but, I was recently blindsided by a new health condition, and I don't fancy having it happen again if there are cues available. I've had hypothyroidism/Hashimotos for 16-17 years, at least based

Low statin dose increased lipoprotein a significantly
I have elevated lipoprotein a [lp(a)] and elevated cholesterol levels, am 70 years old and have a coronary artery calcium [CAC] score of 0 (or did before I started statins a short while ago). I just learned about the lp(a) level around 18 months ago. I started a 5 mg dose of simvastatin 15 months

calcium supplements before zoledronic acid infusion
does everyone take calcium supplement before the infusion, I am due my second infusion tomorrow, I have had a blood test and they said calcium levels ok,they said ok after my first infusion but ended up peeing blood, a blood test doesn't show how much calcium in your bones, and with zoledronic acid infusions

New to CAD
I’m 48 years old and just recently had a calcium score done. It’s came back as 312. My cardiologist put me on a statin and told me to take a low dose aspirin 81 mg every day. I was also advised to change my diet and get more cardio exercise. I have changed my diet completely and started riding an exercise

Yet another mess...
I am coming to the end of my B12 pills and being on the lower pension and every penny counts, wondered if I needed to reorder. So I phoned the surgery to request a blood test, and was told the GP would phone me back. So far, so good. A GP phoned, introduced herself as the new GP at the surgery. I

Is my 7 year old son hypothyroid?
My son is 7 years old and he doesn't seem to be growing enough, at least in the last year or so. I am suspecting he could be Hypothyroid because of my genes (Hashimoto's and Type 1 diabetes), so we did some blood work: hGH - 0,27 ng/mL (0,05 - 11,00) IGF-I - 74,93 ng/mL (18,00 - 307,00) TSH - 3,574

Calcium and D3 supplementation decreases cancer risk and increases CVD risk
Full access to this article is behind a pay wall. Nevertheless the reduced article might be interesting for those who take those supplements. Unfortunately it is not quite clear (to me) whether it is the combination or the calcium by itself that has these consequences and what role the D3 plays in either

On Nutrition & Exercise
Excellent Zoe Pod Cast/YouTube with Prof Cyrus Cooper & Prof Tim Spectre on explanation of osteoporosis and latest thinking on nutrition, exercise and treatments. It’s a long one but worth the listen and thoughts on latest research studies - may surprise many - especially on VitD/Calcium supplementation

Coronary calcium channel score
Is statin prescribing linked to Coronary Calcium score? In late 60's my recent Angiogram was fine but had a CCS score of 25. From what I've read, Statins do not eliminate existing plaque, but stop it getting worse. Always ate healthy, since a child being faddy, cut off every bit fat from meat, wouldn'teat
