Surgery and pain relief
Hi.......I am due to have surgery on my hand ( I'm having a thumb joint replacement) and wondered what safe pain relief I should be asking for, as I'm currently taking 1500mg gabapentin fir RLS? I follow the advice on here daily, and would welcome any on this subject.

my journey
Hi everyone, thought it was about time I shared my story My journey began Easter 2024. It all started when I couldn’t open my mouth wide enough to get the spoon in while eating breakfast, I had to slurp, other meals had to be cut into small pieces. I wasn’t in any pain. The pain began usually around

I keep getting denied the CA-125 test!
52 y/o post-menopausal and was diagnosed with a 3.5 cm endo on my ovary. They were unsure what it was after the CT scan, unsure after the ultrasound. I then asked if I could get a CA-125 test because my aunt had ovarian cancer. Doctor said an MRI was better suited as they'd have to do that anyways no

Pulsatile Tinnitus following Aortic Valve replacement.
I am making a good recovery following surgery in early March 2024 to replace my Aortic Valve. I am experiencing a constant thumping sound in sync with my heart beat and felt between my ears somewhere in the back of my neck. Anyone might experience this after strenuous exercise as the blood is rushing

Repeated asthma exacerbations
I had asthma upto the age of 5 years. It then went into remission. Reactivated when my folks got me a kitten while I was recuperating from surgery. I am now 69 and it has plagued me since. However, recently after seeing a consultant a few years back was given the recommendation of rescue packs( doxycycline

My GP Surgery are driving me mad! Now charging for me accessing my blood test results. £1 a sheet, payable in cash on collection.
Good evening all I hope you are all as well as you can be. I have come here to moan about my GP surgery. I live in Pembrokeshire, Wales. I am always made to feel that I shouldn't be accessing my blood test results from my doctor's surgery. I have 6 weekly monitoring blood tests for a DMARD I take

Omni eye surgery
Like some who have had kidney issues I have also experienced eye issues and had to undergo omni glaucoma surgery. Due to the multiple medications I already take for blood pressure and transplant many of the eye drops available for glaucoma have poor interactions with my system and result in serious side

Aortic valve and root replacement
Thanks for all your messages of support from my post about my partners surgery yesterday.Unfortunately he had an allergic reaction to one of the anaesthetics so op was stopped. We now have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for the Allergen team to determine what caused the reaction, they obviously have to be sure

Complex hip/pelvis injury (structural damage, tendons, PN...): seeking advice
I’m an otherwise healthy 29 year old male. Nearly 2 years ago, I suffered a traumatic injury whilst playing football, whereby I heavily impacted another player while shooting the ball. Over the next months, the injury turned into a total nightmare which has made my life miserable. Initially it was diagnosed

Prayers needed. Again. Or still.
So, Aunt Peggy has a possibly-cancerous growth on her sole remaining kidney. I wrote about it some weeks ago when it all seemed so simple. Her doctor still hasn't begun any treatment! She was supposed to see him, then he postponed it for a couple weeks until she got a test. And then after that, oh

Natural or IVF after excision surgery
I'm after a bit of advice, maybe from someone who has been in similar shoes.I had excision surgery a few weeks back on my pelvis and bowels, after freeing up my ovaries and uterus. Adenomyosis was also found but ablated. Luckily my consultant believes this hasn't affected my fertility at the moment and

I had surgery to diagnose/ burn out endo in July and I had about 4 weeks relief and then it started all over again. The pain is back with new ones. Has anyone else experienced nerve pain throughout the pelvic area, hips, legs and feet since surgery? I can hardly walk some days and I’m really struggling

CAS - support and monitoring?
I was diagnosed with Coronary Artery Spasm by a cardiologist in August 2018 after seven years of symptoms and having to fight for a referral. This was my second attempt at a referral. The first had ended in discharge following a clear myocardial perfusion scan and the advice that there was nothing wrong
