Possible stroke ?

Hi everyone I was discussing medications issues with surgery pharmacist yesterday. He asked why I was taking Clopidogrel (I am having serious oseophagal spasms) then said oh yes possible stroke. I am stunned no one has mentioned this to me. As far as I knew my GP moved me from aspirin to Clopidogrel due to my acid reflux. Anybody else had similar problems. I am also on Felodipine 75mg and just started statin.

If you have good reason to believe you have had a stroke, as suggested by the pharmacist, perhaps you should discuss this with your GP to talk it through and find out what implications that may have for you.

Hi and thanks so much to everyone who replied to my post.Just been to GP and learned the stroke was put on my records by 111 due to the symptoms I was describing. These are a stress reaction and usual for me which I did tell the call handler. Anyway it's to be removed and my BP is now fine. Agree with several posts though about checking these things. Scary indeed! Best wishes all

I don't know how these things happen. My records showed I had COPD! Definitely not. I've asked to have it removed but it's still there. 🙄

Oh my God. That's awful! I bet they got a shock, though. 🤗

Hello :-)

I can only imagine the shock at hearing that said to you must have been like

I would make an appointment with my Doctor and ask if this is true and why you have not been informed and in the meantime I am hoping the pharmacist has made a mistake

Let is know how you get on :-) x

Dear Bobby

I would guess that the clopidogrel could avoid you having a stroke. I love Clopidogrel. Keeps my migraines at bay. You can’t have a full stroke and not know about it. There are transient strokes which are often referred to as mini strokes. They are generally mega migraines. And a warning to avoid a full stroke.

Best wishes

C.

I recommend that everyone requests a copy of their medical records. I have found a number of things out about my own health that I was never told about.

Likewise ☹️

I requested a copy of mine to help fill in the application form for travel insurance. There was an entry put on by the nurse saying I had ischaemic heart disease , which I don’t have. I even had to get the cardiologist secretary involved. It was eventually removed and got an apology from the practice manager. The implications of it being on my records and me not putting it on the insurance policy would have beer horrendous in the event of a claim.

What you suggest is very wise, I have found quite a lot of glaring errors and outright lies recorded on my NHS app. The first ones, such as they said I had attended a diabetic eye screening, and had also attended a diabetic clinic at the surgery, I mentioned to the practice manager, she said "Yes?" I pointed out that I am not, and have never been, diabetic. But this sort of thing continues

Actually, I have an allergy recorded that isn't an allergy - have to explain this every time in appointments etc. Not a particularly major issue in reality, but from peoples comments here, it could just be the thin end of a wedge, umm...

It's an anti clotting drug so presume it's to prevent strokes

Thanks yes I knew that. It's the stroke comment that's frightened the life out of me. Ringing surgery today. All the best.

I just had an ophthalmologist trying to insist I must have had a stroke and his report even said I'd been assessed by the stroke clinic. Absolute utter rubbish; Cardio have me down as having angina. I've never had a single sign of angina. I had a mild NSTEMI and two stents with absolutely no pain at all. I then had a gynaecologist put in a report that I have diabetic retinopathy which scared the life out of my optician because he thought he'd missed something. It took 6 months to get that comment removed. My medical records are a work of fiction.

That's disgraceful, I can imagine the shock prevented you from asking there and then. Go back today and ask the pharmacist where s/he got this information. It must be in your notes, but written by whom? The hospital or the GP. No matter who, they should have told you 😡

It is disgraceful I have been in a right state. Ringing GP this morning and hope I get some answers. Thanks for your response Woodsie.

I think medical practitioners in all areas seem to have not been trained in what used to be called “bedside manner” these days patient interaction.its almost like they’ve become AI…a few understanding and empathetic statements probably contribute more to the health and well being of patients than a bucket load of pills!

Thanks for your comments. I think the trouble too is you see so many different doctors they don't know you. I am very anxious about my BP so when they laugh it off it's very annoying! All the best to you.

Very true - I got to that point and then whilst I enjoyed meeting all the Practice's doctors, I picked on one of the doctors that I best related to and always asked for him. Worked well and b

That's great but I have a big inner city practice and its difficult. You only get to see the same doctor if they decide it's necessary. Luckily I am at the moment. All the best
