I wasn't born asthmatics but developed the symptoms when I was 15 and it was quite manageable until it became a bit severe when I was 17. Asthma, When to stand up
I’ve only been diagnosed with asthma since I was 18 I’m now 22 however I’ve always felt a stuffed to catch my breathe at times, I pleaded with the doctors since I was 15 when I was playing football with my team and literally couldn’t run up the field without coughing so much that I was gagging and almost

Symbicort confusion
Have had asthma since I was a few months old and in the early years there were no inhalers at all. Have recrntl6 been put on Symbicort (Smart) after I was told Seritide was being discontinued and that it would replace my ventolin reliever. As I have exercise induced asthma as well as allergy asthma

Can’t take much more :-(
Hi... I don’t normally post on here, just a lurker reading other posts generally. But I just have so much running through my mind at the min along with feeling physically broken I thought posting might help. For the last 7 months my asthma has been hard to control, I couldn’t tell you how many exacerbations

My humour helps me cope!
I was searching on Pinterest for recipes for magnesium rich food and have discovered a whole host of asthma related quotes that definitely appeal to my warped sense of humour! (I find it helps) ‘You take my breath away. Well, it’s either you or my asthma’ 😂 Not sure if anyone else is the same, guessing

Parastomal Hernia Repair
I have a medium to large parastomal hernia which has been causing partial blockages and pain. I have decided to have a parastomal hernia repair and booked a date for the operation. I just wish to know what the after effects are. Does the stoma get smaller and cause leakages. Do I get pain in the long

Hopefully may have the answer
After many years of flare ups and taken an asthma preventer and dosage for server asthma . I have been finally diagnosed with mild asthma. I was told today, all these flare ups may have been caused by the steroids in the preventer I have been taking all these years. On a new non-steroid preventer

Asthma Phenotypes
The following (very recent - Summer 2018) short article on Asthma Phenotytes caught my eye. It highlights increased medication needs for overlapping asthma phenotypes. Interestingly, it talks of low Eosinophils and also low FeNO as distinct phenotypes separate from high Eosinophils and high FeNO. It

Asthma History
I was a prem baby (2 lb 7 oz) in 1963. I had severe asthma until I was 9 requiring 12 weeks in hospital age 8 (Llangwyfan ‘chest hospital). No problems at all for many years then age 48 I got an awful chest infection requiring steroids and was given 2 inhalers (salbutamol and cleanup). I’m 54 now and

Late Onset Asthma Diagnosis
Hello everyone, I am a 53 yr old female diagnosed with late onset asthma. I visited my doctor 10 years ago with breathing problems, esp during the night, when I would wake up gasping, taking in air but appearing to be holding my breath. The Dr listened to my chest, said I wasn't wheezing, so it wasn't

Have cleaning products affected your asthma?
Hi all, I think a few people have mentioned strong reactions and asthma flare ups when using cleaning products. We're looking to have a chat with someone has been affected to share their story. If that sounds like you DM me or drop me an email on aghosh@asthma.org.uk Thanks, Dita

Intal/Tilade - Medication for exercise induced asthma
I have been doing some research whilst trying to rest up after the weekend, and it seems there are some medications around which target exercise induced asthma. Generally my asthma is reasonably well controlled, but exercise remains an issue for me. For example this weekend, I used ventolin before I

Stoma
Has anyone had to have a stoma due to endometriosis getting in the bowel? I had it confirmed last week that I would have to have this procedure. Hopefully it's only for 6-9 months. Feeling really scared and been really teary. I'm on hormone jabs and HRT ( 7 months so far )
