Strange Panic and anxiety attacks
Can anyone relate? When I have panic attacks my breathing is never fast it is usually slow but still chest breathing and my heart rate doesn't increase much. When I do deep breathing exercises my heart will usually start increasing and cause palpitations. The deep breathing usually doesn't help much

How Does Smoking Affect Sleep??
I'm passing this on from one of our members, BlueEyedGal Each year, nearly 6 million people die worldwide from tobacco use and related diseases. Smoking has a long list of health risks, including cancer, depression, anxiety, heart disease, and much, much more. But smoking also interferes with your sleep

Great week, then brain says "nope, no more!"
The past month or so I have been off and on with this stupid anxiety brain funk. With an okay day here, a bad day there, a good day randomly in the middle. I have been taking citalopram for over 2 years now so I started to think maybe I need to go up a dose or possibly try another medication. Then

I typed an email and gave myself a SAD attack
Whew, my heart is racing, my chest feels tight, I'm fighting my mind to stay in the moment. I need to mend bridges with my oldest Son and I fear I have said things that are too hurtful to ever be forgiven for. I composed the apology email and I think I should wait until evening to send it because he

Buteyko breathing exercises
Came across the idea of Buteyko breathing exercises - reviews look too good to be true. Am a bit skeptical and wonder if reviews are either made up or the reviewers don't get asthma that badly anyway! I am on a medium twice daily dose of symbicort, montelukast and spiriva and still struggling so getting

Aortic Valve Replacement : The Op itself and beyond
As I said in my last lengthy post, apologies as I am not quite sure what’s of interest and what’s not, so will just tell my tale as it happened and let you decide whether to read on or not! Day of the op: So, the big day dawned and at 6.50am I had found my way to the Same Day Admissions unit in readiness

Help me Im begging you
I have been trying medications with my GP for so long now, this breathing issue isn’t getting better at all. I haven’t exercised in months because of it, because I am absolutely horrified and I think I have exercised induced asthma, not asthma alone, though I remember in the middle of a walk, I tried

Anyone take supplements for things like anti-inflammatory or vascular health?
Just wondered if anyone had tried supplements to try to help their annies either heal - which I’m told is impossible, or at least avoid growth/slow any growth? Caveat: The below is just conjecture & ‘mind ramblings’, I’m not qualified in ANY way with this stuff, it’s more for my own knowledge and I’m

Tips for caring for a patient after heart operation.
My husband had his ascending aorta replaced nearly three weeks ago. I have made a list of the things that were important to him/me when in hospital and afterwards. Hopefully will be of use to a few people: 3m long mobile phone charging lead - the distance from the ward plugs and bed can be much longer

Are there any barriers to exercise?
Used to love
exercise
, now cannot get upstairs without heavy
breathing
, am I doomed to not
exercise
again. Need new knee and for health must get down to sensible weight. I have been swimming and only managed 12 lengths with stops inbetween, a far cry from the 30 I used to do.

My anxiety related to eating and how I have let it control my life.
No
breathing
techniques,
exercise
, meditation had been able to cure this issue. I am just fed up with it and want to be normal, but more importantly give my girlfriend a normal happy relationship. My apologies again for the long post.

Stabbing pains
Got stinging stabbing pains in my left side of chest, back and shoulder tonight. I know I’m fine and gonna be okay just stressing already about sleeping tonight knowing I’m gonna have a rubbish nights sleep. Does anyone have any ways to help sleep besides meditation, breathing exercises and reading.

Acute Hyperventilation? Whats gonna be my future? Need answers y'all my doctors can't figure out what's wrong with and it's making me crazy.
I'm trying so hard to stay calm as I'm writing this right now. (English is my 2 language I speak German) so don't make fun of my grammar! try to understand what I'm saying. So, I've had hyperventilation problems since I was 8 probably because I went through hard time as a kid but then it disappeared

New Here
I've learned to use lots of different tools to help myself (
breathing
, meditation,
exercise
, yoga, etc) and while I wish I were more consistent, I have to say that these things really help. It's just become... harder, in ways that I never really expected.
