Deep breaths

Hi all, hope all well and battling on.

haven't posted for sometime but just mainly down to nothing to constructive to say or ask, but have been looking in from time to time and glad all still going well :-)

However I now have a question. Last week or so I have been noticing that I find it hard only on occasion to take a deep breath. Its like a deep breath doesn't fulfil my needs if that makes sense? I went to Docs this morning. Blood pressure, excellent, pulse excellent, lungs clear heart good strong beat.....no pain during exercise and breathing though I do get breathless its not gasping...…...

I have had a persistent night time cough recently and the doc reckons I may have some inflammation on lining of lungs causing random short breaths but assures me not heart related.

anybody else experience this?

Cheers

Hi Davey. Could this be the ‘Ramipril cough’? I haven’t had it myself but it seems to be commonly reported.

Hi Steve,

That's exactly what I was wondering but as I have been taken them for 8 months, the doc says highly unlikely.

Wonder if anybody else on the forum has had this?

Cheers

Unlikely to be that then 😄. Are you on any other meds?

Hi Davey - always a tricky one but I developed a cough (always late on an evening) while on ramipril which only started after I had been taking it for about 3 months. I changed to losartan and cough went within the week. I have attached a link which highlights that a cough can develop after the first tablet or after many weeks or months. If you can't identify a cause and the cough continues I would not rule of ramipril as a possible cause ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Brilliant, thanks Nathan.

Did you experience any slight breathlessness?

I did have some breathlessness but feel that was more to do with also taking ticagrelor as the breathlessness continued after changing to losartan then really improved after I stopped taking ticagrelor after 12 months. I was determined to persist with ticagrelor as research showed it to be 'gold standard treatment' It was the cough that really got me interrupting sleep etc even when I tried using an extra pillow.

Not what you're looking for?
