Will surgery have long term effects?
I have had it confirmed I have bowel cancer and am waiting for surgery to remove my colon. This will leave me with an ileostomy- stoma and bag - permanently. Will this effect the absorption of thyroxine? Any other effects I should be aware of?

Waiting game
Hi apologies for my name it merely reflects the way I feel about the time I have waited for cancer treatment still no date after being diagnosed with lower rectal cancer in early June this year. I feel like a statistic on a conveyer belt that just has to behave and wait their turn.

Hi. This is my first post. Just want a bit of advice really. I had a TAH and removal of omentum plus appendix alongside a very large mucinous tumour (8.5 kg). This was in Feb. I was told that the tumour was cancerous but that everything had been removed and that I was pretty much in the clear. I have

Memory issues from using Pravacol
I sure hope that there are people on this site that can give me some help or at least hope. I quit Pravacol 2 months ago after taking it for 6 months... Memory issues!!! I was told that by now things would be returning to my normal but they haven't. I have read that possibly COQ 10 may help --- there

Seeking Cisplatin advice
Hello ladies. Im hoping for some advice/reassurance. I’m currently two thirds through a three weekly regime of six cisplatin and taxol. The fourth dose floored me, left me so tired and weak that I spent five days in bed, only getting up to stagger a couple of paces to the loo. Has anyone else found cisplatin

adverse reaction to aromatherapy?
The cancer nurse at my GP practise suggested I might like to take advantage of various treatments our local hospice provides for cancer sufferers. I went today for a chat with the therapist to discuss the options. She had a diffuser, puffing out essential oils, mixed with water. My lungs started to

Colon Cancer surgery
Hi everyone, my name is Vickie. I was told I have colon cancer on 9/5/2018 after the doctor got the results from my colonoscopy. This coming Tuesday I have to get an MRI and CAT scan. The doctor who performed the colonoscopy told me he thinks they caught it in time and I may only need surgery to remove

More than one antispasmodic med
Is it normal to be put on 2 different antispasmodic meds at the same time? I've been on Mebeverine for about a month and I don't feel any benefit so I say my GP today and told him the constant pain isn't easing at all, so he's put me on Alverine too! He told me to keep taking the Mebeverine as well?

any good pro/ prebiotics for bloating and excessive gas ??
can any one recommend an effective pre/ probiotics brand that specifically addresses IBS /D ?? i mean that is also FODMAP friendly * no lactose or corn derivatives in the inactive ingredients * Every brand claims they are the best , but i need something truly tried by an IBS / D sufferer . I'm already

IBS C and D
I am struggling with IBD C and D, I have lots of wind and bloating, it started off as IBS C a long time ago and now appears to be both, sometimes alternating and sometimes at the same time. I can have pain on going to bed at night if eaten slightly the wrong thing, and still trying to find out what suits

Is this normal, should I be worried?
Hi there, It's been nearly 2 weeks since the operation, on Monday it will be anyway. I'm a bit concerned about the state of the penis, from my point og view it doesn't look that good. Doctors have said the operation went well, and the week review he remarked how good it was looking, I've refered to this

Ascites. Permanent drain.
Hi lovely ladies. I’m still in hospital but the drain was done today. I’m still draining. I’ve got a permanent drain. Feels weird. My consultant has started me on a new chemo regime this Monday. I’ll be having cisplatin and gem. Fingers crossed I can tolerate the cisplatin as I can’t have carboplatin

Hello
A friend told me about this app. I’m 42 and got diagnosed with bowel cancer after an emergency op for perforated bowel, followed by an ileostomy. I’m on 7 of 8 chemo cycles as it spread to lymph nodes. Recently I’ve noticed bleeding from my bottom and getting worried that the cancer might have spread
