Feeling really tired and terrible wind!

Hi.

This is my first post. Just want a bit of advice really. I had a TAH and removal of omentum plus appendix alongside a very large mucinous tumour (8.5 kg). This was in Feb. I was told that the tumour was cancerous but that everything had been removed and that I was pretty much in the clear. I have recovered steadily but just recently, I have noticed that I am very tired. Truly and utterly bone tired. All the time. Since my operation, I haven't had a decent poo and just lately I have been suffering from diahorrea and excessive wind (I stink). These symptoms could really be nothing. Maybe I'm a bit low (I do suffer with bipolar) and my belly has always been a bit dodgy. But maybe it is back! Do you think I should get my CA125 checked?

Did you not get any follow up check up appointments, I would get in touch with your former CNS and see if you can have a follow up appointment just for reassurance. It does take a while to return to normal after any surgery but better to be on the safe side

Hi Suzuki

Thanks for advice. I am due a follow up in December. I will speak to CNS tomorrow. It is better to be safe, I agree. I looked full term before going to GP last time so do tend to dismiss things rather. Thanks for getting back to me. X

Exhaustion does seem to be par for the course following surgery. It’s quite a lot for your body to take on and adjust to. Did you have any chemo?

It’s always worth checking if you’re not sure. December seems a long time after a February operation to wait for a follow up

Hi Ruthine

I had a large mucinous borderline tumour removed in 2010 and a second laparotomy five months later. Like you I didn’t have chemo but it took ages and ages for my mind and my body to get over the whole thing. Thinking back to how I was eight or nine months afterwards !

Changes to pain etc etc need to be investigated , but time is a great healer....be kind to yourself xxx
