Magnesium & cq10
Anybody got any ideas of a good magnesium I can take? I'm getting a lot of muscle problems now and weakness and although I've started to change my diet I really believe I'm probably magnesium deficient and statins are causing some of these issues.. I've read a bit about magnesium citrate and glycinate

What Brand Of Statin Are You Prescribed?
I understand that the NHS has approved at least five statins for prescription; Lipitor, Lescol, Lipostat, Crestor, and Zocor. However, the only brand I hear actually being prescribed is Lipitor, a member of the "atorvastatin" family of statins. Is anyone being prescribed a different statin, and in particular

Off label medication - how to choose
Ian Frizzels recent vlog about his MP's intervention regarding the prescription for Exanatide inspired this post. I hope he contributes. It's unashamedly selfish. Having tried to establish DIP on first diagnosis, I switched to research for disease modifying "new hopes" after the DATscan. My dilemma

My Introduction - elevated psa, unconfirmed prostate cancer
Hi, I'm a 57 year old with unconfirmed prostate cancer. My psa has been elevated for 14 years and recently jumped from 6 to 14 in a 6 month time frame. Since it was over 10, I thought it was time for a biopsy. My DRE was negative so I wasn't too surprised when it came back as negative. From what

High pressure
I had a viral infection at the beginning of November and went for blood tests. I had a 2-week wait before my doctors' surgery texted to invite me in to receive them with the ominous 'nothing to worry about' non-reassurance. My potassium is a tad above the upper limit (I was eating bananas while ill

Zometa / Celebrex and Lipitor
As Tall Allen pointed out to me a few months ago, zometa and Celebrex combined (but neither alone) were shown to reduce deaths on men with metastatic PC over 20% with relatively minor risks. I started the combo 3 months ago with my MOs blessing and I’ve experienced zero side affects to date. In fact

I have been on flecainide 50 mg twice a day since my ablation in August and I also take Simvastatin, Bisopropol , levothyroxine and apixaban. To statin, or not to statin...creatine kinase and lp/a levels normal
Hi all, I'm after a little bit of advice/guidance. I am a 39 yr old female who has recently been diagnosed with familial hypercholesterolemia. For those who are not aware, this is a disorder which causes high cholesterol levels due to a genetic mutation and means the body cannot remove 'bad' cholesterol

New heart treatment is biggest breakthrough since statins, scientists say
Lots to discuss and argue - and I await Dr Malcolm Kendrick's reaction! After all, he has been going on about inflammation in depth and for a long time! I commend this paragraph in particular: [i]“For the first time, we’ve been able to definitively show that lowering inflammation independent of cholesterol

Coronary artery spasm?
May the 23rd I had my angiogram and one stent in my LAD And just two days ago I finally had my first appointment with my cardiologist even though I have constantly complained of ongoing chest pain since my procedure in may. I pushed and pushed for more investigation into my chest pain and eventually

CoQ10: Miracle Supplement or Waste of Money?
My PCP put me on 100 mg a day. My husband is on it as well. It is also available at Whole Foods. Here is the article (also copied and pasted below): https://www.everydayhealth.com/diet-nutrition/coq10-miracle-vitamin-or-waste-of-money.aspx?eh_uid=80592249&slot=1&xid=nl_EHNLhealthyliving_2018-11-12&
