Not All Statins Are Equal
Many people quote what dose of statin they are on but not which type. The table shows the reduction in LDL (bad cholesterol) for different statins and doses. Before you ask I am on 40mg Atorvastatin as my student liver (🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺) couldn't cope with 80mg! Fluvastatin: 20 mg/day, 21% reduction

Thoughts on Statins
Hi, I've recently had a blood test which showed I have a high cholesterol level and I have AF; my GP wants me to take Statins, he's prescribed Lipitor. Reading the leaflet has me a bit worried about the side effects and wondered if anyone can share their experience with me. I eat healthily, exercise

Beta blockers and rash
Has anyone developed a rash from beta blockers? I had a horrible rash from 10 mg of metoprolol and doc put me on bisoprolol 5 mg. I am now starting to get same rash on bisoprolol after 3 weeks of taking med. I just can’t tolerate beta blockers. The rash is systemic and affects my entire body.

RLS controls my life
I am totally overwhelmed by all your replies to my recent post and my RLS. I feel comforted that at last someone understands what we are going through. It’s so hard when people say oh yeah I get that. I hate it so much and what it has done to me. Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply

Statins
Taking 9 mg at the moment and seems under control. Nurse practitioner wants me to go on statins although my bloods were ok. In 69. What do you think. Feel I’m taking enough pills at the moment and heard they can give you muscle aches.

Burning legs a statin side effect?
I started statins approx 2 yrs ago following a diagnosis of CVD. It’s hard to put a time on it but I’m sure that it’s since then that I started with burning legs. I’ve changed from Atorvastin to Simvastatin because I’d also started having discoid eczema. The eczema on my legs seems much better although

Diet and heart health
Hi again. Been doing some reading on diet and heart health and came across a study regarding niacin use alongside statins. Was wondering if anyone has any input on diet to help with narrowing of the arteries, lowering bp and cholesterol ratios. I am vegan just to let you know. Eat plenty of fruit, vegetables

Side effects of statins
My mum started statins before Christmas, she has stopped taking them today as she feels her hair is really thinning. Has anyone else experienced this? Along with other side effects like feeling exhausted, feeling sick and aching muscles she said they have made her feel terrible and wants to try lower

Diet control cholesterol
Hello can anyone recommend an easy guide to calculate cholesterol in food products. I had a really hard time on statins so we are now trying to manage with diet. I’m finding labels really difficult to calculate. I have recently returned from America and cholesterol levels were clearly marked on labels

Statins and low LDL
I'm wondering if LDL can be too low and have a negative impact on heart health. My statin is only 20mg. After a major lifestyle change a couple of years ago my cholesterol is 2.3 total, HDL 1.4, LDL 0.9. Any thoughts?

Statins and ADT?
"Conclusions and Relevance Statin use at the time of ADT initiation was associated with a significantly longer TTP during ADT even after adjustment for known prognostic factors. Alternative to Aspirin
Hi everyone I was diagnosed with mild atherosclerosis two years OK. No HA or surgical intervention - and started on statin and aspirin. Already on ramapril for high BP. Type 2 diabetic but since losing a lot of weight have maintained normal blood sugar levels without medication for over a year now.

Just wondering……..
I’ve had an under active thyroid for many years; inflammatory arthritis came along 9-10 years ago; followed by fibro about 5 years ago. Recent addition is high cholesterol 🤦♀️🤦♀️. I don’t want statins so am trying dietary & lifestyle changes; I have cut out biscuits, cakes, etc. I’ve started to slowly
