Please could you translate NAFLD? It isn't on the pinned list.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

That would explain why it isn't on the list of heart conditions. I hope you can find some helpful advice.

I was diagnosed with it over 20 years ago some statins can cause counts to rise which can leads to a diagnosis.

Yes I was also diagnosed with this was only on statins for 3 months my blood tests also were sky high for my liver as well as elevated vit b12 . Was taken off them and has taken a year but finally my blood tests have come back in normal range. I also have a normal BMI . Had ct scans to check everything was ok and thankfully all is well.

Thank you, that's encouraging. My GP has told me that it can take several months for readings to return to normal (it was my cardiologist who had prescribed the statins) Most dietary advice on lowering cholesterol seems to be targeted at people who are overweight !

Hi, I have been diagnosed with NAFLD due to medication. A combination of 60mg lansoprazole, colchicine for recurrent peri, rosuvastatin and naproxen. I have it monitored with ultrasound scans. I find it quite concerning but my Gastrologist doesn't seem to. I also have regular bloods to monitor the liver function. My liver function once was raised to almost 500 so they stopped all medication for a month.I'd say if you have concerns speak to you GP or consultant about monitoring with bloods and ultrasound.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, despite having undergone heart surgery and having high cholesterol I was reluctant to take statins, having researched their side effects. I had another blood test after six weeks of taking statins and told to stop taking them. A subsequent ultra sound revealed NAFLD
