Beta blockers and rash

Has anyone developed a rash from beta blockers? I had a horrible rash from 10 mg of metoprolol and doc put me on bisoprolol 5 mg. I am now starting to get same rash on bisoprolol after 3 weeks of taking med. I just can’t tolerate beta blockers. The rash is systemic and affects my entire body. Also take statins but not sure if that is creating the rash. So depressing!

Dear Larivee

Hello to you from across the pond.

All of us have individual reactions to the same drugs so it is really hard to be able to help you on here.

But having said that, when I began my heart journey I was placed { like us all} on a combination of medication.

I had , what I thought was, a severe reaction to, one or all the meds ,as from head to foot I can out in a rash.

Quick phone call and visit later , I was reassured that it was mild and would pass.

If it didn’t they then would investigate the drugs I was on. I had a blood test which proved ok and true enough the rash went after two weeks.

Also here I found very helpful , are our pharmacists in knowing what can give certain side effects to medication. Maybe you have the same service with yours?

Hope you find your answer

Take care

Thanks for your comment. Another piece of the puzzle is that I have anklosing spondylitis (AS) which is an auto immune or auto inflammatory illness. I take Humira to reduce joint inflammation. My body reacts to meds in a different way due to AS. But I think docs need a holistic approach to medicine. They need to look at our body as a whole system instead of trying to fix parts of it. In US, medical centers are corporations so you may not get the best care. You get the care that makes them profit 🥴. It is all about metrics and seeing as many patients as possible. PC

Sad to hear but true,

I think that here we are a little behind you and care and compassion is still high in our medical profession.

But for how long ? It will see me out

Take care
