Diet and heart health

Hi again. Been doing some reading on diet and heart health and came across a study regarding niacin use alongside statins. Was wondering if anyone has any input on diet to help with narrowing of the arteries, lowering bp and cholesterol ratios.

I am vegan just to let you know. Eat plenty of fruit, vegetables nuts, seeds beans etc . I’m not saying that diet alone can make a difference but can it help alongside medication? Any thoughts and personal experience would be thankfully received.

Dear Bluebell67

Hello to you from a fellow Vegan.

Now I have to ask are you a long time Vegan ? or just joined us ? Because being a Vegan is a balancing act.

The best Vegan pathway to follow is as it was years ago before over processed look-a-like plant based food appeared .

Because now we are getting young/ new Vegans with high cholesterol and weight issues.

As for Niacin if your diet is balanced then in theory you don’t need extra, but I found as I aged all my b vitamin group needed a boost.

Like it or not our bodies are engines that only perform well on the right fuel, when we are ill it is critical that we get that right for good strong recovery.

When I was in hospital it was hard going, but luckily it was only for a week, if it had been longer I would have to have seriously re-thought my diet to get the fuel that I needed as I was determined to survive.

This is from a life long vegetarian { hippy parents } and a 40 year vegan.

I wish you well, make sure you get all your blood works done,

Take care
