Normocytic Anemia,.
I have had 12 weekly B12 injections for a few years now. In February I discovered I have Normocytic anemia, and my gp told me that it occurs due to blood loss and my red cell count is low. I had a FIT test wwhich came back negative, which is great. But I am having a colonoscopy and gastrostomy

Newly diagnosed and looking for a very helpful post I would like to re-visit
I was checking through posts and answers to them a couple of weeks ago and found someone who had replied to another newbie on the site and so much of what this person said, made sense to me. I would like to revisit this post and perhaps take advantage of the offer of a chat given by the woman who wrote

anaemia now high potassium
I went for blood tests today, one reason being my low haemoglobin but the nurse said it was also being tested for high potassium along with numerous other thinhs. This is the first I had heard about and the nurse was concerned that the doctor would phone me tomorrow. She said if I hear nothing to get

An Update (good news)
Hey, I owe a lot of people here a thank you for the support that was shown to me during the stressful and worrying time trying to find out what was going on with me. I had numerous blood tests and slowly over time my hemocrit and haemoglobin came down to a healthy normal range! not sure why it was

Folic Acid prescribe by doctor as level under range.
I posted my Medicheck results three weeks ago. My FT3 had dropped to 4.5 from previous results of 5.2 range 3.1 - 6.8 FT4 had dropped to 19.1 from 21.0 range 12 -22 I was told this could be because my folate is under range and B12 lowish Folate - 2.7 ug/L range 2.9 - 14.5 Active B12 - 41 pmol/L range

Fred the iron molecules tale : The end
This will only make sense if you’ve read my previous post https://healthunlocked.com/rlsuk/posts/146515820/fred-the-iron-molecule-and-rls-a-story. There was a question in this post and I promised the writer of the best answer a chocolate muffin. It’s my opinion that the best information was provided

Folate Definciency
Even after reading all the posts and advice (for which I am truly grateful) I'm still confused by Folate / B12 deficiency. Can you have a folate deficiency (only) without having a B12 deficiency?

Vegetarian and absorption problem
I would just like to point out that being vegetarian is not just a self induced B12 deficiency and therefore still needs to be handled in the way of P.A. when necessary. I’ve been vegetarian for over 30 years but eat dairy and eggs. Only recently (2 years) have I become B12 deficient and after being

False reading?
Hi my daughters B12 was 143 & she was given prescribed B12 50mg x2 daily. She’s had a recent blood test & her levels are 479 n/g. Her consultant wants her to come off the tablets & take a multivitamin. I’m a bit concerned it could be a false reading because she’s taking B12. It’s the second time she

Fred the iron molecule, and RLS : A story.
A story with no ending. If you don't like stories skip to "THE END" I have an ex-colleague who used to teach physiology using guided imagery. I attended one of her lectures once on the oxygenation of blood. All the students had to close their eyes and sit, (or lie down) comfortably. Then she began

Positive intrinsic factor tests
Hi there, I have had 2 positive intrinsic factor antibody tests. I also have all of the symptoms of PA. Fatigue, nausea, pins and needles in feet, loose stools, acid reflux and difficulty concentrating. My blood serum B12 levels however seem within the normal range. What do you guys think this means

Feeling scared.
Had ultrasound last week. Found hyperechogenic area. Dr called and called it a lesion. Now I scheduled an MRI. Scared to death. 2 years ago raised liver enzymes. Unremarkable ultrasound. This year liver enzymes raised slightly. Not anywhere near as high as 2 years ago. Now lesion & worried. Cannot get
