Intrinsic factor antibody

1.01 u/mL

0 - 1.19

Normal

I thought it would say negative or positive, so I’m confused.

Thanks

I Googled it.

Intrinsic Factor antibody test results:

Less than 1.20 AU/mL = negative

1.21 - 1.52 AU/mL = equivocal (above negative cut-off point and below positive cut-off point)

Over 1.53 AU/mL = positive

A negative result for Intrinsic Factor antibodies does not rule out pernicious anaemia however. Between 40%- 60% of those with PA will test negative. This has been acknowledged by medical advising bodies. Martyn Hooper, the founder of the Pernicious Anaemia Society, did not test positive until his third test.
