Jump in Haematocritt
My Haemoglobin from back end last year to a month ago was between 116 and 121. Hematocrit was 41%. Haematologist wouldn't give me iron tablets as last time hematocrit jumped uo so fast apparently put me at risk of a stroke. Last blood test a month ago Haemoglobin 132 and Hematocrit 47%. Why it jumped

So for 8 years now my b12/folate has come back low ( e.g - b12 183 and folate 2.2 was my last one last September and it has been them sort of levels for quite a few years. I’ve had another blood test recently and my levels have gone up folate 6.5 and b12 217 (which I know is still low but I just can

Is it safe to inject b12 shots for vitamin b12 level of 165pg/ml?
Hello dear friends My b12 result came back 165pg/ml that lab normal values were 160-950. I visit a internist doctor. She said your values is within the normal range. recommendations for iron supplement
me again! You’re all such a lovely and knowledgeable lot! After my last post I’m still not sure what to do about my low iron. It showed up in my last blood test with my GP and he prescribed Ferrous Fumerate 210 mg but I felt so ill on them. Nausea and diarreah! Any suggestions please? I know I’m 79

Low ferritin again
Unsurprisingly my ferritin has fallen back to the very bottom of the range yet again after i ceased iron supplements back in march. Raised a call with the surgery this morning and within 6 minutes of raising the call online it had been closed by the enhanced care practitioner as saying no action required

Iron Deficiency and Iron Deficiency Anemia: Potential Risk Factors in Bone Loss
Members are likely all too familiar with patients being told that they are suffering osteopenia or osteoporosis due to having too much thyroid hormone. And, especially, too much T3. While it is important to realise that there is a case to be made regarding excess thyroid hormone, it is just as important

Serum Ferritin levels
I had a blood test last week and my serum ferritin level is 24 ug/L. It says the normal range is 10 to 291. As I have restless legs is this level ok or should I be taking iron tablets? It doesn’t mention my transferrin saturation numbers. Maybe if I call in at the doctors I could ask if they have

Update re: Total Confusion about Ferritin (Medichecks) Results!
As promised to Seaside Susie, and 6 months later, please see below response I've had from Medichecks. I'm just sad it didn't come in time for Seaside Susie to see that they had eventually listened to us! It is an improvement on the previous reference range for over 60yrs females but it raises more questions

Update for my daughter re loading injections. and the rest.
My daughter has her appt with GP yesterday - she's 19 and although I was planning to go, had to agree when she said she wanted to do it on her own. Which I regretted! Here is the earlier thread which contains her results etc.: https://healthunlocked.com/pasoc/posts/149760385/daughter-starting-b12-

Next steps/where to get active b12 test?
Quick background: B12 deficiency (152) in 2017, negative IFAB, received 2x 3 monthly injections then taken off them. Investigating various symptoms now, recent bloods show drop in B12 from December 2022 (455) to now (206). Doctor saying I just need to take a multivitamin with B12 in, but I am not convinced

B12D bloods show positive TPOAb
Hi Guys A few weeks ago, I posted concern over hubby's bloods when GP said all was fine. To cut a long, and sadly not unfamiliar story to you short, I managed to get him to see a private consultant who identified at least 3 other long term health niggles associated with B12D. Hubby is now on SI treatment

Vitamin Levels Tested- advice please.
Hi there,I recently had my vitamin levels taken, as despite taking levothyroxine and T3 I am still feeling extremely tired, have hair loss, weight gain and lack of concentration. I wondered if it might be my vitamins. The results were: B12 & Folate Serum vitamin B12: 932 ng/L (180- 770) Serum folate

If your doctor worries that too much B12 is toxic, show them this study on ALS & B12
ALS is the same as Lou Gehrig's disease, and is also what Stephen Hawking had. It is a neurodegenerative disease, thought to mostly affect the motor neurons. Ryosuke Oki, et al, "Efficacy and Safety of Ultrahigh-Dose Methylcobalamin in Early-Stage Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis" JAMA Neurol. 2022;
