Weak positive IFA
Hi all, I've just called my doctors for the results of my intrinsic factor antibodies test and been told it's weak positive. Apparently it's been sent back to the lab for further tests/interpretation but the receptionist couldn't tell me what. Does anyone have any experience of this? What does this

Extreme Diets.
I define an extreme diet as one that flirts with deficiency of one or more essential nutrients. Sure, one can always take a pill to counter deficiency, but that would detract from the idea of an ideal diet meeting all of the needs of the body. Is there a place for an extreme diet when cancer is present

Hi, this is my first post so please bear with me! I have had various blood tests done as in February this year I started with severe roaming joint pain, I have had an ANA of 1:160 over the past 4 years (this was detected due to a severe skin condition) so I have always known lupus might rear it's head

Cold numb feet, trouble walking, leg pain.
I'm still having a hard time dealing with these supposed somatic symptoms. Brain and cervical MRI came out clear except for a few bulging discs. Trembling, vision problems muscle spasms, frequent urinations.Unfortunately I believe I've been misdiagnosed with anxiety and depression . All my symptoms

BMJ Best Practice website advice on B12 deficiency
Hi all I came across this document whilst inadvertently finding a "back door" into the BMJ "Best Practice" website. I've been on this forum for a while and have read all of the excellent links to various B12 articles that others have posted. I haven't seen this one before however and note that it has

RA, PSA, lupus or what?!
OH has now been under the care of the rheumatology department for 9 months and today we had his third appointment. He is negative for rheumatoid factor and CCP but the consultant has always said he has an inflammatory arthritis. His CRP levels were in the high 20s at first and have been gradually rising

How safe are heartburn medications and who should use them?
[i]Many people suffer regularly from heartburn - a burning feeling in the chest caused by stomach acid travelling up the food pipe (oesophagus) after eating. This causes inflammation and irritation of the lower oesophagus, and also ulcers. The most commonly prescribed medications to treat what is known

What to do next
Hi, I have been on b12 injections for about 5 years now after a good 10 years of previously feeling rubbish due to very low levels of b12. I had the loading dose then went to 3 monthly shots, then about 2 years ago went to 2 monthly shots. I feel ok for the first 4 weeks and then gradually feel worse

Can you have RA without swelling?
I had blood tests recently which have come back abnormal - my rheumatoid factor has been increasing out of normal range to higher levels and I have iron deficiency anaemia, along with out of normal range ESR (low) and low lymphocyte count. Some of my other blood tests are out of range. I have been feeling

Just need to vent!
Hello, Been to the doctors today after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment only for the doctor to barely look at me and pretty much refuse to listen. My b12 was as low as 149 last year but my most recent test was 284. I've never had any treatment but was taking a vitamin b complex prior to this test

GP didn't order intrinsic factor test!
Hello, I went to my GP practice and got print-outs of all my blood test results, but discovered I never even had the IF test! Instead she did the gastric parietal cell antibody test (negative) as well as a number of others (all negative): Anti Mitochondrial Antibody Anti Smooth Muscle Antibody Liver

I take Levothyroxine in the morning so I have until tomorrow morning to decide. I am due a repeat thyroid test in 6-8 weeks. I find that I get sweats and
