PMR since July 2018 and down to 1mg. Enter GCA
My Bio is pretty well up to date, until a week ago. Quick summary of things is: I'm ok, vision ok, diagnosed with GCA, and I've gone from 1mg (nearly done...or so I thought) to 60mg. Now on my third day of 60mg and waiting on new bloods I did today and a call from the consultant tomorrow to discuss

40+ years of Exhausting Fibro!!
Hi everyone, I have not been on this forum for a long time now due to declining health and numerous personal stuff (all pretty traumatic/stressful unfortunately!) Anyway, in early February this year I developed a really painful right arm/shoulder that I felt wasn't fibro-related. Local chiropractor said

Duloxetine or Amitriptyline and sore gums
Hope everyone is well as can be ☺️ I was wondering if anyone on Duloxetine or Amitriptyline experiences sore gums? I went to the dentist yesterday and they think it could be one of the medications that I'm taking, possibly Duloxetine or Amitriptyline. As I've taken both of them together I couldn't really

Small fiber neuropathy
I was diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy last year. My symptoms started three years ago. I was fortunate to find a neurologist that took the time with me to get it figured out. My symptoms are burning, itching, pricking, sensitivity to textures. My burning symptoms mainly start when I lay down at

Meningioma advice
Hi all, I started getting constant headaches about three years ago. After being ignored by my doctors, I paid for a private neurologist, and he did an MRI, told me nothing was found and suggested it was menopause. I've had three years of headaches, dizziness, vision issues and utter fatigue and losing

Living Hell
I first experienced RLS about 1982. I had no idea what was wrong with me so I just put it down to some sort of allergy. As the attacks were quite intermittent, I didn't seek any help at the time. After about a year though. The frequency and severity of the attacks increased manyfold and was now causing

Why is Amitriptyline causing Vision Problems & Tremors
I’ve recently been prescribed 10mg Amitriptyline to help with nerve pain from bad posture (still waiting for a diagnosis) however, I’ve been getting tremors when I go to sleep and horrible visual problems. It’s sounds strange but when I turn the lights off to go to bed, I can see a purple light in my

Swollen feet/ankles
Does anyone know if amitriptyline can cause feet and ankles to swell quite badly?I've been on them since last December. Thank you. Many thanks for all your replies. Funnily enough the rheum nurse phoned me today, so whilst she was on the phone checked about my ankles. She said the same, see my

Sertraline
I’ve just come back from a doctors visit and he has prescribed Sertraline for my ibs-d. Now I have looked it up and can see that one of the common side effects is diarrhoea. He said this is a drug that will be expected to be tried before an appointment with a gastroenterologist can be made. I have

Still got pain - now more of a constant burning sensation on the top of my skull. I phoned the surgery and had a call back from the "advanced practitioner" within 15 minutes. She asked all the right questions and arranged an appointment with my GP for 2 hours later. GP is of the opinion that I have a

Ketamine - a profound experience
Three weeks ago I went for a Ketamine therapy visit. My goal was to reduce my anxiety and get help with my existential fears. Had tried Effexor, but didn't like the way it made me feel and was concerned other anti-anxiety meds would do same. Ketamine is a short acting anesthetic, but at a lower dose

I have just been diagnosed with heart failure. I already am treated for a fib (bisoprolol and warfarin) but I have taken (for years) one 10mg amitriptyline at night and two 8/500 co-codamol in the middle of the night. Is it ok to continue like this because they really do the trick? Many thanks

SNRIs for fibro treatment
I've discovered that taking a SNRI interferes with the effectiveness of a SSRI. I have been taking a SSRI 50 mg (antidepressant) for manic depression (now known as bipolar) for over 30 years. It keeps me sane. My doctor recently prescribed 4 mg of Amitripiliyn for insomnia. It didn't do anything for
