Does anyone know if amitriptyline can cause feet and ankles to swell quite badly?I've been on them since last December.
Thank you.
Many thanks for all your replies. Funnily enough the rheum nurse phoned me today, so whilst she was on the phone checked about my ankles. She said the same, see my GP! Easier said than done

I’ve just looked at the very long list of possible side effects in the patient information leaflet and its not there, I’d speak to your gp as it could be something else unrelated as you’ve been taking them a while, best get checked out.
Just to let you know that I've had RA for 6 years and my toes have always been swollen. But in the last 6 months, as my RA generally has been getting very much worse, my feet from my ankles to my toes are now swollen. There was some doubt about it being RA but I think that has passed.
Thank you Jimminey. I've never had swollen feet as bad as they are now. Was curious as to whether the medication was to blame. Will get in touch with Rheumatology.
I have taken amitriptyline since diagnosis eight years ago and never had any swelling. Lots of things have made my feet, ankles and lower legs swell but amitriptyline isn't one of them. Time to see your GP I think.
