Dad end stage liver disease
My Dad was diagnosed about 30 years ago with Non alcoholic steatohepatitis. September 2016 had a massive bleed and been in hospital 4 times since. He is home and has been since Dec 2016. He does not want to go back into hospital, which I totally understand. He is not able to have a transplant and has

Rifaximin
Still having a battle trying to get Rifaximin prescribed on the NHS, the cogs seem to move so slowly .... so I took the private prescription in to the chemist and we now have four weeks supply for £320! Whatever it takes, that was ten days ago and meantime together with the lactulose, it does not appear

Generic rasagiline (Azilect) prescription filled, seems about the same
I was worried when I got to the pharmacy this past Tuesday and they told me they had filed my prescription with a generic form of azilect. After taking it for a couple of days, it seems to work no differently. The only difference I notice is the generic pill tastes metallic where the original tasted

Eyes and speech affected?
A few years ago I had optic neuritis, the only symptom I had was fuzzy vision in one place only so I went to the opticians who referred me as an emergency to the GP and the GP referred me to hospital. I was asked to attend the emergency clinic & I did, but both eye drs and neurologist confirmed it was

Hallo friends it's Squinty, I've been a bit silent lately as out of blue from a chest infection I had a ct scan and from abnormalities on that I had further tests and have been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that has spread. I have just had this news so trying to come to terms with treatment etc.

Lupus and Cataract Surgery
I've had lupus for 20 years (possibly more, before it was diagnosed). Recently I had to have cataract surgery. I asked them before they went ahead if there was a possibility my immune system would reject the man-made lens. They said, 'no'. Reassured, I went ahead with the surgery. Now my eye is

Small Scar on my liver what dose this mean?
Please don't judge me I'm a hard working 32 year old male. Today I had an ultra sound the nurse giving me the ultra sound must have been quite experienced as she was teaching another nurse and they were quite thorough. When she finishe her actual words were "all done everything is normal but you have

Palliative Care
At what stage should you initiate palliative care for someone who has stage 4 cirrhosis (end-stage)? Does the GP need to refer them for palliative care or can this be initiated yourself? Worsening fatty liver?
Hello, I am now here and I wonder if anyone can share their wisdom. 2 years ago I went to my GP with upper right pain under my ribs and he sent me for an ultrasound in that general area. All was fine except it was noted I had a 'mild fatty liver'. On looking at my history and what alcohol I consume

Recently diagnosed with macular degeneration
I was really surprised, not in a good way when I was told at a routine eye test that I had macular degeneration, the dry sort. The optician told me to go home and not worry about it as it was early days. I did go home and realised I was in shock - I couldn't stop thinking about it, I couldn't even

Non alcoholic fatty liver disease
Hi, I was recently told (16th December) that I have NAFLD. This kinda worries me a bit as I don't know much about it. This was found on a MRI scan (mrcp) for another condition. I have had a genetic blood test and a liver function etc done and as of yet not got the latest results. Hopefully the results
