Low EGFR
Hi guys, I'm new to this kidney blog but have come on here as I am at a bit lost with it all. My EGFR is usually around the 40 mark with Creatinine around 160. Unfortunately I also have a couple of fractured vertebrae from my osteoporosis so I have recently been taking Amitriptylin for the pain. Now

Is this normal
I have had anxiety for about 4 years now which started after a very stressful time in my life. I was on medication but only for a short time because I was coping fine. In the past 2 years I have lost my dad due to heart failure, lost my job in the past 2 weeks. Over the past year since my dad's passing

AF on Channel 5 Doctors Behind Closed Doors
Although watching live it is on C5+1 at 21:00 tonight and catch up. Show a number of minutes about a patient with heart issues, issued with Apixaban and Warfarin. Included in this the Doctor talked about the risk of dying due to AF. He also has ischemic heart disease and heart failure.

Which way now !!!!
Have been off sick from work since end of July as my AF was all over the place and I was experiencing quite nasty chest pains. Had to attend A@E a couple of times but just sent home. The GP increased my bisoprolol to 10mg each day and eventually AF more settled. I was referred back to the cardiologist

Insurance
Hi all Thought I would pass this information on, off on holiday soon to Lanzarote, so the question of insurance had to be addressed. After many quotes anything from 200 to 400 pounds for seven days, was the norm, then a friend suggest I try Columbus insurance, after declaring copd, emphysema, high blood

Liver Transplant - 2 Years On
New to the site & only found it because I was looking for some travel advice (found that ). I had my transplant on 18 Aug 2014 and am now feeling a whole lot better than I did before the op. The first year was 'different' - taking all those medications, keeping a close eye on diet and coping with a

Heart Failure Nurses
Yesterday I met my heart failure nurse. What a delight to have someone who knows all the ins and outs of my particular history and will be at the end of a phone and email if I have a query! A few times recently I have had symptoms and have had to decide between the drama of A&E and the wait for a GP

Evening all! Well finally got my appt with consultant on Friday last, and got to ask many questions! I have to admit he is a very amenable man and easy to talk to. BP was good (125/75, I think) and I asked him to interpret the ECG I had just had taken (regulars on here will remember, all my GP could

Everything you always wanted to know about AF but were afraid to ask???!!
Regulars on here will possibly recall my attempts since October 2015, to get my GP to request a review/appt with my Cardiologist (who had discharged me in Jan 2014) to check on my now persistent AF.........GP was quite reluctant even though the best HE could tell me from an ECG I persuaded him to do,

Mini Maze
Does anyone have any information or can point me in the right direction. I have just found out that when I had my Aortic heart valve replaced in January this year they also tried to 'cure' my Afib with a Mini Maze. Unfortunately this did not work as I now have Afib 24/7. So my question is this, is there

'Heart Failure' ??
Good morning, dear AF co-sufferers! I saw an assistant to my cardiologist recently, and in his report to my GP, he mentioned my 'heart failure'. There were a number of errors in the letter, and my GP said don't worry, he's obviously very new. When I said I was puzzled about the suggestion I'd had heart
