Can we develop a useful formula for calculating what is an acceptable heart rate for an individual in AF? (when to seek medical attention)?
Hello, As we have so much experience and knowledge on this site as patients and as medical professionals, I wonder if putting our heads together on this could be productive for doctors and patients. Given that once in AF a high heart rate may persist for many hours, even days, it would be useful to

ABG (Blood gas test) yesterday.
Hi all. Following a CT Scan on lungs and heart, my doctor informed me that it showed that I have the usual COPD scarring on my lower lungs plus the onset of heart failure, this despite two blood tests for heart showing clear. This didn't really surprise me due to the recently acquired painful swelling

Gp says TPO antibodies can never go down!
Hi I’ve been on here since September, hope you can track me down. Just seen my GP and asked for TPOab test with TFT’s (lab will only do TSH) as stupid endo wouldn’t do them. She told me that only need one test as they will never come down! I’m sure that’s not true, and I told her so, but she repeated

CRT-D Pacemaker Implantation Part 4
I’m writing this blog to help those who, like me, struggled with the whole concept of Pacemakers, CRT Pacemakers and ICD’s. My understanding of the role of the various pieces of kit are :- * A Pacemaker is used to help people with heart failure. It gives the heart a little help should it try to slope

Blood pressure medication
Before I was diagnosed with AF last year I was taking Indapimide with no side effects. Since diagnosis I have been tried on various meds for high BP, including beta blockers, I'm now taking Slozem, all causing me to feel unwell in various degrees. Does anyone have any idea Why indapimide is no longer

Been back to the consultant and as my kidney function is dropping so quickly (it’s dropped 15 in last 6 months) and is now down to 18 so he’s starting all the tests for transplant. My mother and her brother both died in their mid 40's with heart failure due to v. high cholestorel. Can I stop the inevitable?
First of all I think this forum is great and I've learnt a lot from many people posting on here. I do however get lost with all the mixed advice given and I know most will say that I should speak to a GP/cardioligist etc but I would like to learn from people going through similar experiences. I am now

Fenofibrate and kidney:Increase in serum creatinine
Fenofibrate has been used for the management of atherogenic dyslipidaemia for many years. Reports of fenofibrate-associated increases in serum creatinine (SCr) levels raised concerns regarding deleterious effects on renal function. Fenofibrate may not be a nephrotoxic drug. However, a close monitoring

Driving - keep on going ?
This is my first post - please bear with me. I'm 76 and I've had heart failure for around five years and have been taking Ramipril and Bisoprolol to control the failure. Last November I had a Pacemaker fitted. The Doctors have decided I have a high burden of atrial fibrillation and need an anticoagulant

Massage
Hi everyone, is it safe to have a massage when you've got heart failure and PAF? I rang my surgery for advice and was told that they didn't know. Wishing you all well.

AF, heart failure and Digoxin
Hi, I started with AF in my mid thirties, I am now 60, and in 2013 was diagnosed with heart failure through mild left ventricular impairment due to right ventricular pacing (I am on my second pacemaker) and 2 leaking Valves. After the HF diagnosis I was put on Bisoprolol and ramipril, and kept on Digoxin
