Fortnightly S&F catch-up: Are your recovery days planned or accidental?

Here’s our Fortnightly S&F catch-up…or as my hubby called it

★★Powerflex recharge★★

I have to admit, I don’t feel as energetic as I normally do. Maybe last week’s heat? Or maybe I’m feeling the effect of my rowing into the 10k territory, and with my runs also getting longer, I do wonder if I need to plan in days of doing nothing.

In fact, I had one like that yesterday on a heavy work-work day, but as it was an unplanned recovery day (and does that count if office work keeps your adrenaline flowing?), it didn’t feel like recovery.

And then my workout-diary entry for that day just stared at me blankly and empty. And accusingly!

Not very satisfying!

So I have a feeling recovery days need to be planned and intentional!

I am also aware many are busy with the James Dunne challenge but just wanted to take the opportunity to check in and ask all of our other workout buddies,

Who is still doing daily Yoga? I see Strava is still full of Yoga posts, so that’s great to see.

Any Pilates people? I still have somewhere in my mind a thought to do a 30-day Pilates journey, but it’s on the back burner for now.

Any other cross-training Strength&Flexers?

Let us know.

I think rest days are essential! I don't tend to plan them except during the JD challenge and all I do during actual rest / recovery days is walk the dog 🐶 no cross training. Atm the only cross training I'm doing is the JD challenge although inspired by cheekychipmunks I've bought a weighted hula hoop 😃 I've tried it out and it's quite fun! For the first time in my life I've been able to keep it spinning for a few minutes 🥳⭕ not sure I'm up for 30min sessions tbh but I'll try to do 10-15mins every day once the JD challenge is over

Gosh… what one gets tempted to do when reading about what others do! My childhood’s hoolahoop hoops where definitely not weighted. And that might just feel so much more fun, than my light plastic hoops that often just didn’t go anywhere!

Nice one 👍🏽🙌🙌🙌

Yep, I'd say it's definitely easier with this one than the ones I had as a kid 👍
