Hi lovely VWBs, VYB, VPBs, VRBs, and VRBs,

(Update: Added some acronyms as I got the initial one wrong! Work those acronyms out for a riddle! 🀣 I will put the answers in the replies!)

Just dropping a little of our regular catch-up posts, as I know that there might just be some of us not busy with our current March Matness Challenge or YWA monthly calendar.

So let us know how this month is going for you! Have you not yet succumbed to the March Matness, but possibly other workout madnesses? (is there a plural to fitness madnesses? There should be! )

We’d love to hear all about it!

And if you are still looking for some challenges, I’ll add some links below:

β˜… MARCH MATNESS, led by our very own Β Β ChannelRunner2 at healthunlocked.com/strength...

We are just getting into the depth of the 30 day challenge and ChannelRunner2 is putting brilliant posts together to keep us busy day after day. So there is still time to join us.

β˜… INDOOR ROWING: I am still rowing a 30x30 min challenge of rowing daily a 30 minute session in March. It’s the fourth time I’m rowing my way through it and it’s good fun for intermediate rowers. Link and details here: healthunlocked.com/strength...

β˜… YWA March Calendar MOTIVATE is of course also here: healthunlocked.com/strength...

And for those who are new, our key standard links of all things S&F are provided below:

β˜… Our classic 5-week S&F plan: healthunlocked.com/strength...

β˜… Always popular YWA 30-day Yoga journeys: healthunlocked.com/strength...

β˜… And a link to all our topic folders: healthunlocked.com/strength...

Hi CBDB, I'm sorry but what/who are VRBs, ?? I just can't work that one out :o

I love the catch up posts, a quick chat never goes amiss. I had a week off the NHS, S&F workouts with "Laura" I seem to have strained a knee with the mini squats/knee bends. I'm fine now, a rest helped. So this week I'll be having anothet go at level 2. My ear buds have arrived so I'll be getting used to wearing those as I walk around the flat doing chest pulls etc.

I'm also having fun reading about the Pilates story and watching the experts getting it right, it does make a difference knowing what the aim is and where common mistakes are made. I'm having a go with some of them. Thanks again to ChannelRunner2 for all the research and posting a new exercise every single day. I hope you reach the end of March MATness with some energy left.πŸ’ͺ

I'm off for the 1st dog walk, have a good week everyone.πŸΎπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Virtual Running Buddies, good morning my QSF 😊😊😊, I think most people find this support site when they start running and get achey legs or backs, then they learn to stretch and get stronger, but it's an inclusive place to learn and have fun and you never know, I might get you running one day 😳I'm always pleased to see you here

oh no (strainer knee), but phew (ok now). It’s amazing what a period of rest can do!

VRBs!? I got my letters mixed up! So sorry! No wonder you could not work it out! It should be

V W B s - Virtual Workout Buddies

Somehow I was still in the running forum mode, where VRBs is used for Virtual Running Buddies. I must add a correction!

Great stuff with going for level 2. You are doing great! And in the long run, your knees will - I am sure - feel so much stronger.

CBDBAdministratorGraduate Gold

ok, I made all those acronyms up, bar one, but what I think they stand for are

VWBs - Virtual Workout Buddies

VYBs - Virtual Yoga Buddies

VPBs - Virtual Pilates Buddies

VRBs - Virtual Running Buddies

and VRBs - Virtual Rowing Buddies

Did anyone get them right?

(My mother died from smoking-related lung cancer, so I love hearing of anyone who is in the process of or managed stopping smoking!)

Aww I'm sorry to hear that CBDB. I smoked all my adult life, with some half hearted attempts at quitting. This time I've been smoke free for over 4 years. It's far more complicated than just a bad habit, sometimes it's a full blown addiction and harder to lose than heroin.

4 years! Brilliant! Hope you manage to stay strong! Sending you lots of good vibes! πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

And S&F will hopefully help a tiny little bit as well!

Thanks CBDB, 5 years in July! I'm quite confident as long as I keep QS close. I still get the occasional idea that a puff would be nice, but I know that just one never works. when that happens I get onto QS and have a read, just to remind myself how far I've come. I'm in Italy and they're not as expensive as in the UK. About a third of the price.

I haven’t had much to report except my post run stretches. This morning I’ve had a trial session with a PT who works with runners. It was absolutely brilliant. I had a wonderful PT for ages and we made so much progress. I’d forgotten how useful it is to have someone to adjust your position a little so you’re activating the right muscles more effectively. I’ve never thought so much about how I do a squat before! I was surprisingly nervous about my technique being rubbish and feeling quite unfit before but once we got going, it was great. Hopefully this will be the little boost I need to get back on track with strength and flex work.

The other thing that was really good was he was talking about how important this kind of work is for runners-not just pure strength but all the mobility work and balance too. It really validates how valuable this board is to runners, as well as everyone else! So a big thanks to you CBDB and all the others (special shout out to ChannelRunner2 for the March challenge) who contribute so regularly!

I've been aiming for some type of exercise per day in addition to my two dog walks. Working on a mix YWA, live yoga , physio, pilates from my zoom library and the daily March MATness. I've missed a long weekend when I was away and also need to catch up with MATness . I find it difficult to get back to the routine after missing a few but I'm going to try hard this week to get back to it.
