Hey,

I'm just posting as I have spent hours reading through all the forums and reviews since starting and an see everyone has different experiences so thought I'd post mine.

I was/am a heavy smoker, about 30-40 roll ups with roaches not filters a day, unless I drink then I can't count :) I'm 35 and have smoked since I was 12, I have tried everything in the past but with no joy and little willpower. I was recently diagnosed with COPD as I am wheezing at simple tasks and it's given me a kick up the backside.

So, from day 2 and still now I have been completely shattered, I usually sleep around 6 hours a night, now I'm sleeping at any time I can, I did 18 hours the other day. When I'm awake I'm just lying around eating so that's not good,my plan is to treat Monday like a new start, I work from home ATM so it is possible to live like a slob but not for long.

The nausea has only been a problem of I don't eat with the pill, however without food was terrible so my intermittent fasting has had to take a backseat for now thank god :)

It's only been since day 6 that I would say there's been any real change in smoking, I am still smoking but not as much and I never smoke a full one in one go. I previously set day 12 as my quit day on drs advice but after reading the forums I'm just going to see if it happens more naturally.

Anyway, I will update when the next big change happens, I've gone back to bed for another nap :/

Hey! I was in your shoes one year ago! I smoked 1 to 1 1/2 pack a day. Absolutely LOVED smoking and smoked for more than 20years . I also had a health issue and thought it is time I make the extra effort to quit and stay quit (I quit many times before for months but then went back again).

Champix helped A LOT with the dreadful physical withdrawals and quitting was easier then previous trials . I stayed on champix for 8 weeks , sleep was terrible at first but then it regulated (and yes did have some disturbing dreams, but would rather be disturbed from nightmares rather than lung cancer).

I used lots of relaxation and quit smoking hypnosis from you tube (micheal siley was my favorite) and deep down kept reminding myself that I have to stay quit... I was 43 and felt clock was ticking with age and 20 years plus of heavy smoking : that i was eventually going to be a smoking casualty statistic.

Good luck! You can do this ! You will miss it sometimes but will also feel BEYOND happy to be out of the slavery of nicotine addiction .

Thanks for posting! It actually really helps hearing success stories and I might give the YouTube vids a go whilst I'm dropping off to sleep!

Today is almost like I'm forcing myself to smoke, I bought a pack of backy, which will more than likely go to waste but am only smoking the roll up in 2 drag bursts so it took me three hours to finish one!

I'm off out for a drink tonight so this will be the test but they are 100% working :)

Hi! I quit with champix. It will be two years June 1st. I think the hardest part is once you start this journey you have to make changes to your lifestyle. You have to eat something when you take your pills. When I first started the pills I had nausea in the morning. I would eat 5 or six crackers and that seemed to help. Pick your quit day. When you get up that morning just don't smoke. Let the champix do its job of blocking the cravings. Go for plenty of walks and drink plenty of water. Change up your routine. Gum and Scotts mints got me through it. Good luck.

Oh very good luck in this endeavour! Thoughts and prayers are with you. I used to think that turning my back on nicotine was flexing my mental muscle, but it's not. It's just sweating it out for however long it takes. Be strong and here's to good health and long life. 👌
