Got to stop!

Greetings; 73 years old from the US. Had a heart attack late November out of the blue. Since been diagnosed with kidney disease severe. Have to stop smoking cigars.

Smoked cigarettes from 16 to 28 years of age and quit cold. Around 50 started smoking cigars, thought they were not bad for you. So for 20+ years the filthy addiction got worse. Have to quit or die. It’s not happening going cold. Need help. Thank you

Hi Labs4me, welcome. I’m not very active in the group anymore but I was! I saw your post and wanted to reach out. IMO cigars are the same as cigarettes. If you need some help talk to your doctor or pharmacist. A scary health issue is terrifying , I wish you the best of luck with everything

Hey Putter,

Thank you for the encouragement. Agree, that cigars are toxic and as bad as cigarettes. Having great difficulty stopping them. Make progress and next day, lighting up again. Haven’t bought a cigar since October it’s now April still smoking. It’s very disappointing because I know my life is being ruined by this disgusting addiction. Will continue to quit and ask doctor for help. Time is fleeting! Encouraging others is a noble pursuit, Thank you

Thank you for the encouragement! Having a bad time full of see sawing. It’s a tough thing to accomplish when things are stable. Still reeling from incoming bad news that shows up every day.

It is a have to do but the insidious nature of the addiction is currently getting its way. Not giving up just not making any progress, yet.
