I just wanted to update on here that I’m now 26 days smoke free!
My Champix ran out a week ago, and I haven’t bothered going back for the second lot of 4 weeks. I’ve been told by my brother that I should, because it helps to stay quit. But right now, I’m just not sure that I need it.
I still have cravings, every day. And have been so close to getting a packet and just smoking one. I keep telling myself I just want one. I haven’t given in yet. I did have a couple of puffs a week ago after going out for drinks, but that was literally it.
Still not sure if I should go back to the doctors to get the second prescription.
I’ll keep coming back here to give you updates.

Just one and a half months on the Champix was enough for me but I didn't have cravings. If you do have cravings and feel like buying a pack, I'd suggest going back for another round of Champix. Want to set yourself up for best success. Good luck and congrats on 26 days that's really awesome!
Please go and finish the course to make sure - I stopped taking them after 10 weeks & am still completely smoke free after 5 months. I smoked for 50 years & am now 70 so it’s never too late to stop. Go for it & good luck
Congratulations Gracecanquit - great job. Personally, I would take the full course of Champix. The Champix, while not preventing the cravings completely, will take the edge off your cravings.
Thank you all. I will go back to get my prescription. It’s just so weird that I seem to be craving the smokes now, as much as I was the first couple of weeks.
That is likely because the champix is mostly out of your system and you are doing this on your own. Like someone who is going cold turkey. That is why they tell us to do the 12 weeks on champix. It takes the edge off the cravings. Good luck and stay strong
I’ve had really bad headaches the last few days, then I remembered that you posted something about your experience coming off Champix. I’m not sure if mine were because of it, or just a coincidence. I didn’t really get them until around 5 days after.
The cravings are constant, but manageable at this stage.
I had some issues. But the 12 weeks I was on champix I never craved a cigarette. I was around smokers. Then two days after I stopped them I had nicotine withdrawal and felt like shit. But if I knew then what I know now I would have taken the champix for 16 weeks and weened myself off of them. Good luck
