Good Morning Everyone. Just joined. This is day 3 for me. Cold Turkey. My insides feel like they are aching. I keep going out to the kitchen, couldn't figure out why. I'm looking for my cigarettes and lighter. Well it will get better, I'm sure. Trying really hard to keep a positive attitude. Wishing everyone well!

Welcome Huey. A positive outlook is a big part of being successful. It's helpful to read the pinned posts on the first few days & weeks. It definitely does get better.

Congratulations Huey! I hear you on going to certain rooms or looking for smoke paraphernalia out of habit. I've been trying to bust up my habitual morning by visiting people in my office instead. I think I'm starting to drive some of them nuts LOL.

All the best in your new healthy and happy adventure. You can do it.

Thank You so much. It is actually scary how much smoking is part of my life. I Never smoked in my home so that's why I am looking for my cigarettes and lighter in the kitchen. I have 4 dogs and would normally go out in the yard with them. Throw the ball and smoke a cigarette. Well today I decided to go outside with the dogs and Chase them around the yard. So now I know I can go in the yard a throw the ball. Life will be ok. My goal is to become a runner Huey(my Cairn Terrier mix) will make a great running partner.

Welcome Hueydewey , congratulations on 3 days smoke free, well done!#

I too stopped cold turkey over 3 years ago and never looked back. Yeah, it has been a rollercoaster of journey but so worth it to be free from the nico demon :)

Have a read of the pinned posts, and in particular below if not already done so:

I went cold Turkey, it's the best way. On y fourth day I went to the petrol station and didn't know why !. It's just the lack of nicotine in the brain, it passes after a day or so. Keep strong.

Hi Huey!

I am on day 3 as well. However, I am using vaping to get through the hardest parts of my days. I totally get the walking around looking for things. Your brain is a jerk trying to trick you! Just yesterday I was in my kitchen making coffee and started rolling smokes while it brewed! Habits are hard to break. I didn’t smoke but now my husband doesnt have to roll his for the day. Haha. I have a smoker in my house so cold turkey isn’t going to work for me. I still need the vaping vice to get through watching him puff away. I’m just hoping my influence will prompt him to join me on this journey. However, I’ve made a stance that I don’t need him to quit to be successful. Good luck!

You are far braver than I would be, if someone else smoked in the house. Today is not so easy. I woke at 2:30 am wanting a cigarette. Very strange. I made coffee and let the dogs out. I will get thru it.

That sucks! I’ve only quit cold turkey once and it only lasted a couple of months. I think cold turkey is the hardest way for sure, but on the flip side I feel like it feels the most rewarding once you get through the first week! I’m rooting for you!
