Hello everyoneSorry that there's been a long break from 'cutie pics' but i've been very poorly with shingles.

Now i'm feeling better but still very fatigued i 'm posting a fun pic for bank holiday. Hope you like it. Looks like someone at the Great Yorkshire Show this year didn't get the 'memo'!?. Haha!.

Hope your all as well as can be and you've stayed safe this summer.

MistyXx

P.s, i do finally have a result about the awful biliary pain i get. A special scan has revealed my gallbladder isnt working properly so mr surgeon wants to take it out!. I'm on the long waiting list , up to a year's wait to have it done. Has anyone had also bowel surgery with this op?. I'd love to hear from you.

Thanx for your wonderful support and its lovely to be missed. Xx

very cute Misty. I am so very sorry that you have been so poorly. Shingles is horrible on top of all that you go through on a daily basis. I am so very pleased that you now know what is causing your awful gut problems. I sincerely hope the waiting lists reduce so that you can have the surgery you need. Sadly the NHS is on its knees currently. Lots of love xxx

Thank you cecily for your lovely message. Glad you liked the goat. I do hope Finlay has recovered well from his op. You must have been so worried!!. Yes, shingles is not something i'd recommend and i had it badly due to not getting the anti-virals soon enough. A nurse practitioner didnt take my history into account. I hope you haven't had it!!.

I am relieved i've finally got an answer to my biliary pain and i've even got a name for it which is so helpful!!. I'm worried about the op and have questions that i can't ask for 6-8months!!. I've got a foot op to do before it anyway and that needs recovery time like the gallbladder does!!. Would be good to do them together but there's no joined up thinking anymore in the NHS!.

How have you been?. I hope not too poorly yourself and you've had appt's you've been waiting for!!.

Strictly launch show soon!. Xx💕🤞💕

Our new family member. We are picking up Skye on Sunday next week. He is a little Black and Tan cocker spaniel. I agree totally that our NHS has no joining up. Everything is compartmentalised which does not suit our bodies. It is shocking that we have to wait months for pain relief. My urgent referral to gynaecology was a two year waiting list. Thank goodness I had s private consultation. I see the Consultant Anaesthetist again on Tuesday and hopefully will get a date for the nerve blocksI hope that your appointment is expedited lovely xxx

misty14 in reply to CecilyParsley

How wonderful cecily, a playmate for Finlay coming soon. Skye sounds lovely, bet he's beautiful. Gynaecological waits are the worst in the country and its so unforgivable 2 years of hell women like you have to put up with. Thank goodness you could go to a pain clinic privately and they are helping you. Good luck on tuesday lovely, hope you won't wait too long for the nerve blocks. A pain clinic has kept me going with my leg nerve damage for years. They are marvels but the doctor's are specially chosen and it makes such a difference.

I can't have an earlier op at short notice because of my steroid doses thanx to an adrenal condition i have. Must get thru a foot op first which needs recovery time as well.

🤞for tuesday cecily. Xx🐶💕🐶

Thank you so much. I just could not go on the way I am. No sleep for days, jerking, sweating, rapid heartbeat. It felt more than a Gynae problem and the thought of waiting two years only to be told you need to see another type of specialist was making me so depressed. I was right as soon as the private Gynaecologist saw me she said sorry but you do not need a gynaecologist. It was a relief to be honest. I was starting to think I was losing my mind. I hope this private pain specialist can help and then refer me to the NHS pain clinic. Hopefully we are both on the right track at long last lovely xxx

How did today go cecily?. I do hope it was helpful. No, you couldn't live with those symptoms for 2 years , only to be told , go away, i'm not the consultant for you!!. You were proved so right because thats what happened!!. We can be like parcels that get passed from one dept to another before we reach the right one!!. Yes, definitely, Lovely to think we've both got thru to the right specialist's at last!!. Xx💕🤞💕🤞

CecilyParsley in reply to misty14

Hi Misty thank you for asking. I am still reeling to be honest . No nerve blockers yet. She told me my body is suffering an autonomic crisis and that until I am stable it will be impossible to clearly identify the nerves responsible for the severe burning pain. It explains so much the poor balance, the tremors, the spikes in blood pressure and heart rate, the lack of bladder control and bowel function, the choking, the inability to maintain a stable temperature control, the agitation, jerking, inability to keep still. I could cry. 15 years of seeing specialist after specialist all shrugging. I do not quite understand what it means for me yet but the mere fact that a Doctor sat there explaining my life meant the world xxx

misty14 profile image
misty14 in reply to CecilyParsley

Wow!. Not surprised your still reeling cecily. Pain clinic dr's are fantastic at getting to the nub of the problems and diagnosing complex conditions like you!. She's right because they use those nerve block injections as diagnostic tools, to know which nerves are affected. My pain clinic did this for me. Did she say how you can get your autonomic system to calm down and when for your next appt?. She must have wondered how you've coped all these years, suffering so much!!. I'm so pleased you've finally found the right help. You need a few days to process this.

Good luck for getting Skye. Xx

Yes it made me quite tearful to be honest to have someone understand my symptoms. She has prescribed another opioid but says it is not addictive as it works in a different way to morphine. I have a four week trial after which time she will advise my GP to prescribe it if it suits me. This should control my pain better and calm the brain in conjunction with the neuropathic drug so that when I see her on 3 rd October she can schedule the nerve blocks. Fingers crossed it works. For the first time in a very long time I have some hope that life will improve for me. Thank you for caring lovely. I cannot tell you how much it means xxx

misty14 profile image
misty14 in reply to CecilyParsley

Thats so wonderful cecily, you so deserve it. Could i just ask which opoid she has prescribed as it sounds much better than morphine.?. Addiction is such a worry for us. Will keep 🤞it helps you. Xx🐶💕🐶🤞🐶💕🐶🤞🐶💕

CecilyParsley in reply to misty14

It is Tarpentadol 50 mg twice daily. All I can do is give it a go. She warned me again about having the knee op when she called today on the phone. She is convinced given my current state I will die on the table. As much as I want and desperately need new knees I have to listen to her xxx

misty14 profile image
misty14 in reply to CecilyParsley

You have to trust her cecily as she knows exactly the risks of ops, however hard it is to hear and it specially is for you. I do hope it helps you. I tried it a few years ago and didnt tolerate it but we're all different thankfully. Looking forward to hearing how you get on and keeping my 🤞. Xx🐶💕🐶🤞

Think positively and i'm sure it will help. You are starting with a low dose. Its good cecily too that you have another appt in clinic in Oct so your being well supported. That must feel strange too because you've been left on your own so much to cope. Have a lovely weekend with Skye. Xx

Thank you for the encouragement. I have faith in this Doctor which is a rare thing for me to be honest. If she can make my life just a bit more comfortable I will be forever grateful. I have just packed a bag to go tomorrow. It is so hard to travel light even for three days with cushions and toilet raisers and medication and creams. Neil’s bag is half empty lol, just as well as Finlay’s stuff can go in there lol. Finlay is excited because we are bless him. It will be his first time on a beach so it will be exciting for him and hopefully he will like his little brother. Enjoy your weekend too. I hope your pain is manageable and I hear the rain is stopping too xxx

Oh, Cecily, this is really big news. I don’t know if you knew this but I, too, have autonomic dysfunction. These conditions are so hard to diagnose. I thought I was going to lose my mind after already going through an autoimmune diagnosis. But yes, understanding what is happening and getting treated properly is life-changing.

No wonder you have been falling and losing control of those important functions! I am here for anything you need. This may be damage from your autoimmune disease. IVIG can help in severe cases.

Take care and stay out of the heat.

🫂 s to you.

CecilyParsley profile image
CecilyParsley in reply to KayHimm

Oh Kay thank you so much. I am feeling sad, angry, relieved. I have been losing my balance for 15 years. I stopped driving primarily because my knee was dislocating but I was actually veering towards large lorries and vans. I told no one except my hubby because I thought I was losing my mind. Then the choking- nothing found, then the incontinence - no explanation. Next the tremors - nervous energy they said, lack of feeling in finger tips - lots of shrugging, jerking - what are you worried about, insomnia for days on end- you need Mindfulness, the skin crawling - it’s the morphine, the 144 resting heartbeat - again it’s the morphine, I have been given Diazapam, Canestan all not validating my extreme reactions. Last week I honestly nearly lost my mind. I could not sleep, or lie down, I jerked and spasmed , I rocked and dry retched , sweated and shivered for four whole days and nights. My heart felt as if it was coming out of my chest, my legs were going like pistons and I just could not stop it. What do you take? Is anything effective for you? I so appreciate you telling me and it really does help to know that you really do understand xxx

KayHimm profile image
KayHimm in reply to CecilyParsley

You have really suffered. I don’t want to take over the thread so will message you. You probably need to see a neurologist who specializes in autonomic disorders. I am not as involved so my regular neurologist handles it.

I do understand!

That pic is a real cutie! I’m sorry to hear that you have had shingles. I have had it twice and know how unpleasant it is. Hopefully it was caught in time for you to get antivirals.

It must be a relief to know what is causing your pain and discomfort. My fingers are crossed that you get the surgery you need faster than predicted.

Take care and rest up. Xx 💐 🌸 🌺

misty14 in reply to GloomyEeyore

Thanx ge for your lovely message. So pleased you liked the goat pic. I'm sorry you've had shingles twice, not pleasant at all. I certainly don't want it again if i can help it!!. How long did it last for. Did you know they're allowing people who are 50 and over and immuno-compromised to have the shingles jab here in UK. You have to ask your Rheumy first!. It maybe different in Scotland i don't know!!.

I had the anti viral a little later and had more extensive lesions!!. Wrong advice from a nurse practitioner!!.

How did you get on at your respiratory appt?. I do so hope your not still waiting to be seen. How are you after covid now?.

It is a relief to finally know whats wrong and causing this awful biliary pain. I've even got a name for it which is also important for us isn't it?.

Your support ge is so appreciated for my gallbladder op but first i'm having a foot op ive been waiting 8 months for and isn't scheduled for 6-8 months more at least. I need recovery time for both!!.

I hope all your family are well and you have a better week. Xx🤞💕🤞

GloomyEeyore profile image
GloomyEeyore in reply to misty14

Shingles lasted 2-3 weeks for me both times. It was caught early though and I was treated with antivirals. People over 50 and immuno-compromised can get the shingles vaccine here in Scotland too. I’m not over 50 though so don’t qualify. I was 28 when I had shingles the first time.

My respiratory appointment went well. Consultant was really nice. Could see the breathing problems. Said my asthma is under control however. Thinks I have long Covid but can’t say how long it could last. Changed my inhaler though so I only have to use one, once a day instead of two twice a day. One thing isn’t right though. He had bloods done then arranged for me to have a pneumococcal vaccine before he saw me as my antibodies were low. Had my bloods redone 6 weeks later. I got a letter on Friday as my antibodies are still low. I have to and get a different pneumococcal vaccine.

I’m sorry that you have such a long wait for your foot op too. Hopefully time will pass quickly and you won’t be in too much pain in the meantime. Take it easy and rest up. Find a good boxset to watch. 💐 🛋️ 📺

misty14 in reply to GloomyEeyore

I'm glad ge shingles didnt last long for you both times and you had the anti-virals in good time. I didnt and week 9 now with improving lesions. I'm glad Scotland is the same as UK about the shingles jab. Thank goodness you had your long-,awaited respiratory appt but i'm very sorry you have long covid!!. I did recently read that singing is good for the breathing problems in long covid!. They're discovering new things all the time. I hope the new inhaler works better for you and you'll be recovered very soon. You must be very frustrated.

Hope you get the pneumonia jab soon. Interesting you've got low antibodies. Ive just been invited for flu one from my surgery. Very early really as its August still(just about).Hope you have a better week. Xx

Love the pic lol. I’ve also had shingles, it’s pretty painful. I’m now eligible for the vaccine , I will be first in queue. Sorry to hear about the wait for surgery, that’s awful I hope they do something to speed it up. Take care ❤️

Thanx lizard for your great reply. Sorry you've had shingles too. Its not something we want to have twice is it?. Good your eligible for the shingles jab!.Hope you have it soon. Is that thru age or your lupus treatment as i'm hoping i might be able to have it!!. I've been told to ask my Rheumy!. Ive got a foot op to have first so it would be great if they were done together!!Ha!. . I certainly need recovery time between them.

Good luck with the jab. Xx💕🤞💕

Lizard28 in reply to misty14

Thank you misty14, I hate to admit it’s my age that makes me eligible, think they have just reduced it a little. My shingles took 6 months to go away so I wouldn’t like to go thru that again. I’m hoping I get my next covid and flu jab soon as well, hubby been through major surgery and chemo radiotherapy so I would hate to get anything with him being so vulnerable just now. I’ve never had covid so long May it continue. I’ve had five jabs so bring on number six. Hope your surgery goes well and it’s soon, all we do is wait wait wait just now.take care xx

misty14 profile image
misty14 in reply to Lizard28

Thats a long time for your shingles to go lizard. I hope my last few lesions are quicker than that and the fatigue. 🤞you get covid jab soon specially as your husband is so vulnerable. You ought to be able to be a special case!!. I do hope he makes a good recovery. You must have been so worried about him!!. I've not had covid either like you and have had same number of jabs.Been shielding with my parents and we've all been covid free!!. I wouldn't want to test it out either although its still a milder illness but not for everyone!.

Thank you for your good wishes lizard and i'll keep updating with 'cutie pics' so see you again maybe!. All the very best. Xx💕🤞💕💕🤞

Lovely pic of the goat 😊

Sorry to hear you’ve been poorly, shingles is horrible. I had my gall bladder removed by keyhole surgery, it’s one that is quite straightforward. The hospital waiting lists are so long at the moment but at least they know now what is causing some of your problem. Hope the fatigue starts to get better, until then take each day as it comes. X

Thanx chris for your great reply. Glad you liked the goat and you've had your gallbladder out very successfully!. Thats so heartening to hear. I think as ops go it is a more straightforward one specially if keyhole. I just got my timing badly wrong and have hit long lists. Aren't we experts in taking each day as it comes?.I'm having to do that !. I do hope your health is good at the mo. Xx

Haha, great pic Misty. He’s having his fill before anybody notices the mistake!🤣 So pleased you’ve had your diagnosis and is what I suspected having had a mal-functioning gall bladder myself which took 10 years to be properly diagnosed. It was put down to nerves and all sorts before proper diagnosis in 1979. Luckily in those days the list wasn’t long and the op was performed only a month or so after diagnosis BUT it was a major op in those days and I was off my work for 3 months, whereas it is keyhole now. I pray you get your op sooner than feared Misty🙏🏻 because I know too well what excruciating pain you can get from a mal-functioning gall bladder. 😫 Glad to hear you are recovering from the shingles and hope it isn’t too long before all the lesions have gone. Take good care of yourself and keep resting while still suffering fatigue. Healing hugs 🤗xxx

Wouldn’t one lot of GA be great if you could have both ops done at the same time.😉 I suppose a surgeon working on your middle while another operates on your foot would work ok as they wouldn’t get in each other’s way.🤣 Joking aside it is a very long wait for all of it and I’m sorry you are going to have to put up with the pain for so long.🥴 Thanks for your kind wishes Misty and I’m wishing you all the very best too. 🤗💕🙏🏻🤞🌸🦋🌺xxx

Thank you so much krazykat for your lovely mesdage. Its lovely to be back and i'm really touched how much 'cutie pics' has been missed. It's funny kat because i had always dreaded having shingles without knowing why or much about it, now i do and i certainly don't want it again!!.. Poor you having it twice!. How long did it last?. I'm at 9 weeks with still some lesions but much less pain!!.

Thank you for your good wishes for my gallbladder op. It feels better to know whats wrong and have a name for it!. I've got a foot op first, maybe in 6 months as i've waited 8 months now!!. These waits are shocking really for us all. aren't they?.

How are you getting on with your Mtx and steroid dose?. Do hope you've been able to reduce it and been well. Take care, Xx😺💕🤞💕🌈😺

Krazykat26 profile image
Krazykat26 in reply to misty14

The first time I had it I didn't get any medical intervention and it lasted for about 3months I think🤔Can't really remember but I know it lasted for too long!! That was in 2009 and it was that first bout that started lupus for me 😔I had it again in 2019 and got antivirals immediately..it did help somewhat..but I had shingles in exactly the same place as the first time. I had it across the left hand side of my upper body..from the middle of my chest right round to the middle of my back..including breast armpit n left arm. Beware misty coz even after the lesions have gone one can still get nerve pain. I still get shooting pains in that arm n side of my back although now I have Lupus too, but I do think that particular pain stems from the dreaded Herpes Zosta virus (aka Shingles). I'm definitely gonna have the vaccine when it's offered!! I've started MTX injections now..still on 17.5mg and the steroids have stayed at 4.5mg and dermys not too concerned about that dose. That rheumy that was pressing me to reduce has now moved on thank goodness and I've got both a new dermy and rheumy so I'm being looked at with fresh eyes so to speak.

Krikey it's looking like you're gonna spend much of your time in surgery over the next year or so!! You'll be a new woman!! 😹💜🌈🦋Xx

misty14 profile image
misty14 in reply to Krazykat26

How awful krazykat that your first bout of shingles caused lupus and you didnt get any anti-virals then. I've had the lesions in exactly the same places as you and it has been more painful under my arm like you had. I so worry about having post herpetic neuralgia but luckily pain is much better. Funnily enough i had to see a gp because i got an infection there and he took one look and said i was the worst case he'd seen in his 30 year career. I wonder what he would have said if he'd seen both of us!!. We must have that shingles jab kat as its extensive places.

Good luck for starting mtx injections and WELLDONE for getting down to 4.5mg steroids. I had to admit defeat on that dose. Its such a good achievement and i've stayed on 17.5mg mtx myself . Its suited me well like you.

Sometimes it can be so good to have a change of consultant and new thinking. An easier 2nd opinion. !.

Yes, hopefully i might be able to jig to Strictly one year!!. Soon be the launch show.

I hope you have a good week kat. Xx😺💕🤞😺🌈💕💐😺🍀🌈🤞

Krazykat26 profile image
Krazykat26 in reply to misty14

So shingles really was 'the pits' for us then!! 😖😹You have my sympathy Misty..I had to sleep with my left arm on a silky pillow so my armpit didn't get stuck overnight..not that I could sleep much! Thank you for your encouragement with the MTX injections n pred reduction. I am planning to reduce again when I'm settled on metoject. I did get down to 3.5mg but hubby gave me Covid in October and that set me back n GP advised increasing it a wee bit.

Oh yes looking forward to strictly 💃🕺

Ok hun well u rest up now n get yourself ready for surgery/s. 💜🌈🦋Xx

Im glad to hear you are starting to recover after shingles, it is a horrible experience for you , i hope you recover 100% from it soon.

Ive a rheumy appointment on Wednesday as im still very sore, im hoping they will have something in their bag of tricks as my sleep is very disturbed.

Adorable Misty!!! This goat is at the bed and breakfast 🥞, 😀 lol... In 2016 shingles went threw our home, as my mum was in Hospital and at her requesting to be home with us, she contacted shingles from hospice . I feel for you, and pray the worst is over. You bounce back Misty, your a strong one. All you have, and waiting for consultation and surgeries, is painful in itself. The same is happening here to in our country. Hi Misty, It was so great to hear from you. I had been worrying and thought maybe I missed a post. I am so sorry you have had to deal with shingles, definitely not fun or fair when you are already dealing with so much. I am glad you finally have an answer although now you have to wait for the gall bladder surgery. Waiting is the worst as you so well know. What are they doing while you wait for the foot surgery?

The goat is adorable. It was so fun to see a cutie pic again!

Thank you dear Pumpkin for your lovely , supportive mesdage. I'm really very touched at the response to 'cutie pics ' that there has been this weekend. Its so wonderful to be missed. Luckily , the shingles is going quickly now . I've had a steroid injection into my foot which has worked well whilst i wait for the op. I think its starting to wear off and its the only one i can have!!.

I am relieved to have an answer , plan and name for gallbladder problems. Just wish it didn't involve an operation as I tend to get nerve problems afterwards!!. As you rightly say pumpkin the waiting is hard when in pain although i should be used to it by now!!.

How have you been?. I do hope the awful hallucinations have improved.

Thank you for all your support and watch out for another pic soonish.
