Hi GANDONAS,

Welcome to the community.

I'm very sorry to hear you endured trauma.

I heard from my Scottish friends that access to health services is scarce. If at all possible, maybe you could get to one of the cities.

There might be some charity organizations but they mostly offer support for depression and not PTSD.

For me the most healing thing was finding an empathetic trauma specialist and I did somatic experiencing therapy which significantly helped.

We are doing Skype sessions now since I moved.

With hope and support...

Nathalie

I can't imagine the NHS won't offer CBT.

Thanks indeed, Im happy to pay privately and seek person to person rather than endure the anti depressant route offered, can you enlighten me please, what is CBT ?

It seems to be the course of treatment rolled out by the NHS for a number of conditions. Not everyone agrees it's the best treatment, but, of course, it works, at least to some extent, for many. It can also make a few worse – if you know you've suffered something beyond endurance, something there's nothing in this world worth going through the experience again for, nothing is going to make you forget it. Also, I don't believe residual insomnia from PTSD is curable at all (in many cases).

I have read that if you have CBT for trauma it needs to specifically be trauma focused CBT. I am currently having EMDR for PTSD caused by a brain injury I suffered in hospital.
