Hi does anyone on Amitriptyline ,

Suffer with hair loss?

I'm now taking it for Trigeminal neuralgia which is very painful and these meds do help but I've heard they cause hair loss,,.

I have hair loss due to my fibromyalgia not med related but it grown back falls out grows back it is a symptom x

It should help u sleep and with pain I used to take 20mg but have just changed xxxx good luck

I have been on Amitriptyline for a few years now, I lose my hair, it comes out in handfulls when I wash it. However it never really shows it grows as quick as usual.

I was on 100mg for about 2years then my GP increased it to 150mg which is a dose for depression because I was really suffering with pain and no amount of meds were helping.

Hi, I too am on amitriptyline for my shoulder pain and due to a number of medications my hair has gotten quite thin too. Do you wake up feeling like a zombie on it?

Hi i have been on amitriptyline 150mg at night for nearly 30 years.

I definitely have not had hair loss in all the years i have been taking it and my hair used to reach my backside.

I am starting to lose my hair now but that is due to having an underactive thyroid(diagnosed 2016) but only in last 2 years.

GP adjusted my levothyroxine and am only losing a small amount of hair now but have always had really thick hair so it doesn't notice.

Hope this helps clarify a little for you.

Different medications can have different side effects for different people though.

Your right it does effect people in different ways.

My Dr said it's very rare and usually it's a low immune system that cause hair loss mostly .

I'm only on 10 g a day for Trigeminal neuralgia which this is helping but some of the reviews on here are terrifying.
