Alopecia Areata & Mercury

I am new here and never joined an alopecia forum so this is all new to me. I am 26 years old and had alopecia areata for 12 years. My hair loss has never been that excessive and i’ve always managed to hide it well.

Hashimoto's and Alopecia Areata

But over the past year and a half I have now been suffering from Alopecia Areata, 4 bald patches in total. I am concerned it is linked to my thyroid, but my doctors just said it was due to stress. Unfortunately I don't have any recent blood test results, but I am due one in about a weeks time.

Alopecia

Hi Does anyone have any advice or tips on under active thyroid and alopecia? I take levothyroxine but my alopecia is still slowly getting worse.

Is this alopecia?!

At the start of lockdown I noticed this patch, I called the doctor and had a blood test. I was told I had really low B12 and that would explain the sudden hair loss. Well over the last 12 weeks it’s got a lot bigger. I’ve had a repeat blood test and my B12 is now normal. I have another bald patch on

T4 thyroid meds = alopecia

Does anyone have alopecia that they think may have been initially caused by being prescribed the wrong thyroid medication? I am convinced my problems all started 5 months after taking this drug and think it made me more hypothyroid/hashimotos.

Androgenic hair loss

I've added another link which describes another type of hair loss called cicatricial alopecia which I think is also important.

Child hair loss continues

Her Endocrinologist (from GOSH) says it’s probably stress from 3 months prior to starting Levo and her functional dr has said it may be Alopecia. I myself, do not agree with any of this. It started 4 weeks into treatment, she has had 3 dosage changes and the loss continues.

Alopecia triggered by pregnancy

That bald spot turned out to become alopecia areata - in the next few months I've lost almost all of my hair and I'm now starting to loose my eyebrows and eyelashes, assuming it will become alopecia universalis. I also have Hashimoto's, which is under control now, during pregnancy.

Alopecia

Hi, i’m extremely scared to write this as I haven’t really spoken to anyone about my hair loss. I’ve just recently turned 18 and I have a lot of bald patches. My hair loss is now at a point where I can not cover any patches no matter what I do with my hair. I’m constantly covered in hair and so much

New here - alopecia

Been to GP who says its alopecia and is sending me for blood tests for thyroid and diabetes. If they come back Negative she will send me to a dermatologist. In the meantime what else can I do apart from eating veg, protein and oily fish which is what she recommended.

Weird presentation of alopecia

Hi guys, Sorry this is my first post, I haven’t known what to say in the past but my alopecia seems to have gone into overdrive. I’ve already had steroid injections earlier this year, then suffered a bout of telogen effluvium which took about 60% of the hair I had left. I am looking hot ;).

Does anyone have Discoid Lupus that has caused permanent scarring and alopecia?

Be lovely to hear from anyone who suffers similarly (particularly women like myself as I feel there is little help from the male consultants with regards to female alopecia). Thank you :)

Hair loss and skin rash

My hair loss, alopecia Aretera has been getting worse. I have been getting skin rash in the evening on regular basis. Could taking dose at different times help with the rash? Any help on n hair loss? I am due for a blood test. Last blood test showed thyroid levels within range.

HRT compounds and hair loss

The first hrt prescribed to me to treat hair loss, was norethisterone based. Unfortunately, it scarred my scalp. Norethisterone is an androgen based compound so if your scalp is sensitive to testosterone. It will not increase or cause your hair loss. So is helpful to know the compounds in hrt's available

Liver kidneys, iron ferritin serum transferrin and hair loss

Can anyone help me understand my blood tests. A private dermatologist recently took some bloods after prescribing finasteride. I took the drug four months and discontinued as it shrunk my hair follicles. My scalp now looks dramatically worse, thanks to this drug. It didn't increase hair loss but didn't
