I think it may depend on your line of work, if you operate machinery etc. You also could have a safety assessment done at work, many years ago(20) I left my last employment as head of care in a nursing home, due to meds and mobility and the fact that in fire drills I would have been a liability, before that I worked in a school environment, depends what you do really. xx

Hi there

I agree completely with Lou. It very much depends upon what type of job you are doing.

Did your GP speak to you about whether there would be any problems with you working whilst taking this medication?

Do your employers know that you have Fibromyalgia?

I think it would be by far the best way forward to speak with your GP and ask him or her your question.

Depending upon what type of job you do there may be repercussions if you haven't informed your employer.

However, please do bear in mind that I am not an expert so I think you should take some form of professional advice.

Wishing you less pain and more peace

Unfortunately, I think it would depend entirely on what job you do and the dosage of your medication e.g. if you were in charge of peoples welfare and the meds made it possible for you to work most days perfectly adequately but slowed your brain enough so you couldn;t make a decision fast enough in an emergency they might view it that you would be unsafe in that job. Like the others have said it could be a good move to discuss your medication with your GP and take their guidance. If your GP decides that your cognative ability etc is unimpaired and perfectly acceptable on the medication you are on as long as you stick stringently to the prescribed amounts it would be up to your work to prove otherwise. if they dismissed you just because you had a disability that could be classed as discrimination. Hope this helps.x

Good luck hope you get it all sorted I know what a mess ESA can be my husband took 2 years and 2 tribunals to win his case only to have it taken off him a couple of months later as they decided anyone on Contribution based could only be on for 12 months that is after working for about 43 years none stop first time he had ever been on any benefit. Horrendous system I am just going for PIP and dreading it. Anyway let us know how you get on.x

What line of work are you in? I used to work at a pizza place but was let go due to insurance issues.
