Hello! I can’t believe four months has passed since all the blood tests, but I can now confirm we are well on our way to our first round of IVF - with myself sharing half my eggs with a recipient. I definitely made the most of the Summer
My blood tests took just over five weeks to come back - all clear, which was a relief. It then took a further three weeks for a recipient. Can you believe some people refuse egg donors if you are “gay”!?!?! Baffling!
Anyway at the beginning of September, after the recipient had spent a month on the pill, I was able to start taking the pill too (microgynon 30). PROGRESS! I have two weeks left of this pill and then I move onto Norethisterone for 9 days before starting injections 25th October.
Our recipient pulled out last week due to personal circumstances but fortunately we are still continuing with the IVF and they will freeze half my eggs for someone else. In a way, I feel less pressure now to keep in synch. I think I was apprehensive and felt responsible for that person to get pregnant without realising. This way the new recipient will have all the information about the eggs before they make the decision. Does that make sense?!?! I mean, I would feel awful if they had gone through months of planning, drug taking and paid all that money and they only received 1 egg. Risks galore everywhere!
So that’s my update! We are looking at egg retrieval on November 6th so anyone else with similar dates, let me know!
I will be using Gonal F, Certrotide and Ovitrelle. Also the glamorous Cyclogest - so any advice or side effects some have had would be appreciated!
