I've read a lot of conflicting information, as the GP is telling me that contraception is the only treatment for endo and that i need to give it more time, but i've read a lot about contraception merely being a bandaid for the problem and that there is no scientific evidence that it slows the growth

We don’t need contraception. Just wondering do we still need to use condoms. What are the consequences if we don’t?

My GP recommended going on hormonal contraception (Mirena coil). I was wondering if any women have any experience of this or insight as to how one condition might affect the other?

I don’t want to be on hormonal contraception as none seem to agree with me but I don’t know what other options there are. I didn’t get any symptoms really of endo so was surprised to be diagnosed

So, im on a weird road of endo and ando and afew other things (that many it confuses me to remember all of it) ive just had a lapro last week and my gynaecologist has said i need to go on contraception to help keep the spread going further. Now heres the kicker! My body hates contraception.

I feel like my symptoms have got worse since my laparoscopy and excision last April, but have been trying progesterone only contraception since then, which seems to make my endo loads worse.

I am about to turn 25 next month and I’m no where near ready for children but I would love to not be on any contraception so I could give my body a break from all the hormones but I am terrified as to what this would mean for my endometriosis?

every thing gets so much worse when contraception is stopped and things are less awful symptom wise on it.

I also wondered whether having been contraception for the last 15 years and only recently coming off it for these hormone tests for early menopause may have effected the results as well. Anyways would be grateful to hear your thoughts ☺️ thank you

For background I have been going back and forth with drs on this for 10 years now and my pain has got significantly worse over the last 4 years when coming off hormonal contraception. scans have shown I have adhesions around my ovary attaching it to my womb so they know something isn’t right but not

In december i decided to take matters into my own hands and come off my contraception which was the mirena coil, to see if certain symptoms were masked/made worse by it. Since December i have experienced new symptoms which i am unsure if they suggest endo.

After the surgery, they suggested I went on contraception to stop it growing back - since my mum has had breast cancer twice, my options are quite limited, and every time I’ve been on hormonal medicine in the past I’ve reacted quite badly, so I decided to wait.

I’ve now completely come off oral contraception, and am still in pain, but it seems to be subsiding. I’ve been advised that the Mirena coil could be a good option for me to try, but am slightly nervous considering my history!

One of my main concerns is that I don’t take hormonal contraception due to how low it makes me feel and all of the physical side effects, so partly I feel like is that worth it for only 6 months or should I be looking at it like “it’s only 6 months” I’m just so confused and completely torn on whether

They also suggested progesterone only pill may be better than copper coil does anyone have experience with this contraception? Has anyone else been told this? That lower back pain isn’t associated with endo and if not is this more common with any other gynae conditions?

We've not used contraception in probably 6 years and that's the closest we may have come. But maybe now my OH has got himself into better shape, things may have changed. What do you think? Does that faintest of faint lines and a week longer cycle than normal give me anything to hang onto?

Th results came back I have adhesions and my uterus is stuck n suspected endometriosis now sh says yes u was right u have endo we will refer u to gyne it took thm years to take me seriously the pain jus gets worse or chnges with each cycle I am scared of the laporascopy and of any homeonal contraception

My NHS consultant has advised trying the coil again (I’ve tried it 3 times in the past for contraception and absolutely hated it - found it uncomfortable after a month and felt strange in myself). I saw a private consultant, who recommended a full hysterectomy.

I’m really not happy with this option since I experienced postpartum psychosis after both of my children, and since have been reluctant to risk any hormonal contraception for the fear of relapsing.
