I'm in a same sex relationship and after 5 years of laughter we are eager to start a family. We decided between us that I would try first. We had our first consultation in Jan and it has been quite slow since then. AMH levels are 30.8 which I understand is high. HyCosy was uncomfortable but positive. We started Gonal-f injections on Day 3 of my April cycle doing 37.5 everyday. Had a scan on day 7 which was all good but come the scan on day 10 - I had four big follicles. We stopped the injections and had another scan 2 days later but the follicles had all grown. Basically - I reacted too well to the lowest dose of Gonal-f. We cancelled the cycle and went back for a follow up appointment today.
The doctor said that if we wanted to continue with IUI they would have to start the dose of gonal-f later on in my cycle but this would only stimulate enough for the one follicle. I reckon the likelihood of going for IUI using one follicle will lesser the chances even more. Doctor suggested that perhaps we go through IVF. We initially contemplated between IVF with egg sharing as we would be happy to do so and would also help us financially. So looks like this will be our next option
If anyone has any information on egg sharing - how long I would be on medication for? how much all the blood work costs to see if I am eligible in the first place? how long it takes to match with a recipient? General timescales etc etc I would be very grateful.
We already have 5 straws of a donor from Cryos Denmark.
Feel free to ask me any questions that you may have.
Caroline.

Egg sharing process took us 5months from day 1 of calling clinic to go in to speak about it to getting our BFP. There is a lot of paperwork required, doctors letters etc. Then we had to do all the necessary tests which were included in the process. Due to the christmas and new year holidays i found that made the process a bit longer. I had 4 weeks of the contraceptive pill before treatment started. We were matched with recipitent within 7 days, once the paperwork and tests are out the way the process is very quick. I am now 6 weeks pregnant with my 1st cycle. Good luck whatever you do
Aww thanks for the information, that’s really helpful we thought it might take about 4 months so an extra month won’t hurt! and of course - congratulations! That is wonderful news! Did you have to pay a fair amount to see if you were eligible for the egg sharing?
Also, if you don’t mind me asking....how many eggs did they collect for the sharing?!?!
No most clinics give you the routine tests for free. Just shop around. We had to have ICSI because of my partners sperm so had to pay for that but the rest was free. We have really been greatful for the experience. Egg collection i had 10 eggs, 5 eggs each. i had to have a Small dose on menopur after day 3 of injections as i was starting to suffer with OHSS so i reckon thats why i never had loads more eggs but you only need 8 . Im sure 4 months would do it, as i say christmas and new year definately delayed it for us. Once tests and paperwork are over its quick. 😀😀 best of luck with your journey. Always happy to help with questions if you need answers 🥰
I did egg sharing last year and it took about 3 months by the time they did the pre-screening tests for us to start injections- the process is the same for standard IVF, they just took half of my eggs for the recipient.... They froze my donated eggs so I didn't need to wait to be matched to anyone so could start with my IVF treatment straight away. We had to pay £300 for the tests and £1500 for the IVF xx
Aw thank Lianna. I've never been into forums but getting responses like yours is so helpful! We have initial consultation in a few weeks and then full consultation in a month when they take bloods - so we're not expecting it to happen quickly. Will defo enjoy the summer! Good luck for June! xx
Sorry im new here and just reading a few posts. Ive had 2 consultations with 2 different fertility clinics (1 in the Uk and 1 in Spain). I had my first consultation in April this year and my AMH was 62.8 which i was told was very high. I had my second consultation on Monday past and my AMH result was 62.7. Basically ive been told im "too fertile" and i shouldnt consider IUI, only IVF.
