Prontogest injection.

Hi everyone,

Had my final scan yesterday, lining all good and ready to go with our final embryo.

Start prontogest injections on Friday.... just wondering if anyone has had them before? Last 2 times we had the cyclogest pessarys. I’m worried about the pain? Apparently they can be very sore? I know I will get through it as I would do anything for a BFP, just want to prepare myself the nurse said it can get tender!! Any tips would be very much welcome. FET Wednesday 🙏🏻 xx

I had ET last Sat and have been injecting prontogest since then. I was on cyclogest pessaries but my progesterone was low on day of transfer so I need to carry on w injections until test day.

I have my partner do the injection as it needs to be done on the buttocks. We had never done an intramuscular injection before but as long as you pull the skin taught you won't feel that much. The area will feel a bit bruised and tender but only like tenderness from exercise. I dont experience it as painful. You'll be fine. Best of luck x

Hi. I also had prontogest injections until 12 weeks following a frozen transfer. My husband did them as they are in the buttocks as andromedae9 says. They stung occasionally but were definitely not as sore as I expected. We alternated buttocks and masssaged the area for a minute or so after. My butt did get lumpy and sometimes it was a bit sore to sit in a certain position. Make sure you warm the vial in your hand (or under your arm) before injecting. Good luck. You’ll be absolutely fine!

I’m taking Lentogest, which I believe is similar to Prontogest. I inject it in my thigh as I just prefer to do all the injections myself but buttock is another option. It is very oily and have to push it hard to inject it. It stings a bit but nothing too unbearable. Good luck x
