Prontogest injection site bleeding

Hey,

Hoping someone has experience with this. So I’m leading up to my second frozen embryo transfer and this time we are taking prontogest from the beginning rather than after the transfer has already taken place.

So my partner administered the injection today and there was loads of blood afterwards, this has never happened before. Does this mean the injection didn’t go in properly?

(Just because I feel like we are in the stage in our relationship where I can tell you guys these things) we have been alternating butt cheeks with every injection, my right (tonight’s cheek of choice) does seem to be a lot more sensitive so there’s a few involuntary twitches and tensing, could this be the reason?

Are you also on clexane? I did bleed a bit but not loads on the prontogest. Hubby says he would have to press down on the sight to stop the bleed and then would rub it.

It could be that he just hit a vein or something.

It's a frustrating injection but works wonders. Best of luck

Thanks for your reply, No clexane, I’m on prontogest, cyclogest and prognova at the moment.

Hopefully they will work wonders for me 😊

Ah clexane was my magic answer but I was also on those others and intralipids this round :-)

I had these for a while too. You're supposed to draw back the needle a tad before you inject the liquid to make sure you haven't hit a blood vessel. Does your hubby do that? Maybe you hit something? I never bled much, a little sometimes, but omg did I have hard lumps from them! Good luck with your frozen cycle x

Hey, yeah my wife does pull it back and there was no blood then as she pulled it out after administering she says ‘oh my god’ as I guess way more blood came out than usual. Usually it’s just a tiny dot so something went wrong somewhere.

Oh I have all of the hard lumps! It’s insane!

Thanks 😊

Hmm maybe it's the blood thinners? I'm trying to think, I'm pretty sure I had a few incidents where it bled a bit more than just a drop too. Is it sore today? Or more sore than usual? I don't think it's anything to worry about. See how today goes and if it happens again maybe phone your clinic and ask them.

PS I found putting a hot water bottle or microwaveable cushion immediately after plus massaging the oil in helps a bit against the lumps forming. X

There were a few nights with pio injections that I bled a lot. My doctor said not to worry.

I had some more bleeding than others but just pressed with a cotton bud and then got hubby to massage the area quite well for at least 5 minutes. Including making the bum cheeky shake and thus helped. In the end I did just get lumps and they hurt like *£&@.
