I couldn’t sleep as was so anxious to test so we tested and it’s a BFP!! I am in complete and utter shock and beyond happy. I honestly thought this transfer had failed because I had no symptoms. I just can’t believe it, I thought we were out.
I wanted to share with all of you my experience, in the event it could help/reassur anyone else.
This was my third transfer (second frozen transfer). Unlike my first two this time around I had very little symptoms and when I say little I mean I think I had the odd twinge over the 2ww. Whereas with my other two I had much more symptoms cramps, headache, backache.
This difference was and I don’t know if it came down to luck or the changes made.
1. I started taking high dose of vitamin D (recommended by the menopause specialist not the fertility doctor as I have premature ovarian failure).
2. I started taking iron and vitamin C supplements, again recommended by my menopause specialist.
3. My fertility clinic did the transfer three days earlier than we had previously done.
4. I had two dominant follicles growing, which I never had before. I never had even one.
Difference in symptoms:
1. The other transfers I had a light brown bleed immediately after transfer. This time I had light brown-red blood when I wiped once about ten hours after transfer
2. No real symptoms other than feeling bloated and constipation - which is probably do to the pessaries
3. I saw brown blood when I wiped once 10dpt5dt. My clinic said nothing to worry about it. But I just want some further reassurance? I’m hoping this is nothing really to worry about? So any reassurance would be great 😊
Also this was the medication protocol I was on and was the same for all three transfers:
1. Three cyclacur (estrogen) a day
2. Prednisone
3. Clexane injection
4. Aspirin
5. Utrogestan 6 time’s a day (200mg x six times) Four vaginally and two orally. I have really low progesterone.
I am going to get my hcg tested in the morning - any ideas what it should be?
Lastly, since I’ve never had a bfp I have no idea what to do now? Do I go see my GP and notify him? As my fertility clinic is in Athens they have given me a medication protocol to follow for the next 11 weeks and what blood tests to do over next few days. But what else am I to do? I’ve read about women getting scans done, when is that?
Sorry I know I have thrown in lots of questions as well!

Firstly massive congratulations on your bfp!!! I would book a doc appointment to get you’re midwife referral! My clinic did a visibility scan at 8 weeks so not sure how you would go about that, and I didn’t have any blood tests my clinic just did a pregnancy test! Enjoy the lovely feeling, wishing you a smooth and healthy pregnancy 💕🎉
Thank you so much! I will give my GP a ring later today and book an appointment. I have been going to place here in London that does endometrial scans and blood tests only so will see if maybe they can do a visibility scan. Thank you for the information xx
Also I’ve noticed since yesterday period type pains do you think this or normal?
I love early morning, Christmas morning, can’t sleep posts! Congratulations!!!!! And what effort you have gone in to with this post to inform others!
Did your clinic tell you to let them know your result? They’ll advise what’s next I guess. Did you have a hospital/clinic here where you had your scans before going abroad? At a guess; you’ll do scan at 7 weeks with them.
Thank you Emu! It certainly feels like Christmas morning. Yes I sent them an email a couple of hours ago and they told me to get my hcg tested today and then again in two days. I was going to place here in London that did endometrial scans and blood tests. So will ask them if they can do my 7 weeks scan xx
ahhhhhhh!! Congratulations!!! 🤗 This is wonderful news!! Cramping is normal (allbeit quite unnerving) as the uterus changes shape & as embie burrows deeper. How many days are you past transfer now? We must be quite close to each other in the process x (I keep waking up at 5am... not sure how long that will last for, but I’m not complaining 🤗) xx
I’m 18 DPO (by some miracle we got our BFP naturally, between IVF rounds!). I think you are equivalent to 17 DPO right now (12 + 5) so we are pretty much at the same stage. All very new for me! X
I am massively happy to read your post. This is wonderful news! Huge congratulations! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy. Perhaps book an appointment with your gp to arrange a first scan or contact your local EPU. Usually an early scan takes place around 6-7 weeks and confirms a viable pregnancy and heartbeat. Xo
Congratulations Smang - amazing news! I'm a low AMH sister here - so always love success stories! Sending you the best of luck for a healthy 9 months x
Congratulations!!! I know exactly how you feel as I didn't have any symptoms either. I feel the steriods helped me get my positive to. I have no idea what it is but it worked! I am going to my clinic for an early scan and I contacted my doctor today and have an appointment to see them in a few weeks. X
Hurrah, congratulations. When you go and notify your gp, they will tell you how to contact your local midwife, you’ll have a long appointment with them at 8-10 weeks and they book your dating scan 11-13 weeks.
The early scan talked about on here is offered by fertility clinics here in the uk, most at 6-8 weeks and it’s a viability scan to make sure it’s not ectopic. If you want to pay, there are lots of providers who offer early scans , you can just google and find somewhere.
Thank you Lizzie! Just finished up with my GP and she said she would refer me to the midwife and obstetrician. And thank you for the viability scan information I think that is something I will want to do just for peace of mind xx
Amazing news mega congratulations!!!! I would wait to see how the blood tests go and as long as the number doubles every 48hrs or so you’re fine!!! Then you can book an appointment with your Gp and go from there. Good luck!! X
I’d get yourself to your G.P and explain your situation and see if they can organise a scan for you at your local early pregnancy clinic?! Just a thought... you’re entitled to know how things are progressing. Xx
soooooo many congrats..I am thrilled for you. call ur gp straight away..I did and they they put me in touch with hospital so I got booked in for a midwife appointment at 9 weeks then my 12 week scan was bang on 12 weeks best to get booked in early I reckon..something to aim for then xxxxx
Big smile reading this! I remember having AF pains for quite some time, I had some bleeding and had a scan at 6wks well I think I was actually 5wks but measured 6wk I had clexane too and if you’ve not already started the injections feel free to pm me for some advice on them cause they were pretty awful. Good luck with everything will be thinking of you xx
