I only have my first appointment with consultant in a weeks time and I am only just holding on by my finger tips at the moment.
can anyone advise on the best pain killer... - Endometriosis UK
can anyone advise on the best pain killers. I am in really bad pain some days and co-codomol and naprosin do not work.
I got prescribed Mefenamic acid, its a good period pain reliever and lightens it... it does need a prescription though
hi there, i also suffer from diblitating pain, i have been prescribed tramadol with paracetamol, but now they have changed it to dihydrocodeine and paracetamol it takes the edge off but doesnt put the pani away altogether. i hope this helps.
Hi, I understand where you're coming from. I've tried it all when it comes to painkillers. I'd recommend you try to get a referral to your nearest pain clinic. It's helped me a lot. The doctors specialise in pain and can offer different treatment plans. I'm currently on slow release tramadol which is amazing as you only have to take it every 12 hours. I also take pregabalin. Together they work great. But again a referral to a pain specialist would be your best bet. I'm also seeing a pain psychiatrist and doing a pain management course. Can't hurt lol Hope you feel better xx

Hi, I've tried most pain killers, I've found acupuncture really helps, gets rid of all clots, still pain but can cope. Xx
Mefenamic acid works most of the time for me - helps stop the cramping. The Dr has offered me tranexamic acid too which is supposed to reduce the flow. In the meantime, I think paracetamol and codeine, or Ibuprofen and codeine is probably about the strongest you can get without a prescription in the UK.
Hi Projectgoldie, you really shouldn't be taking tranexamic acid when you have endometriosis. The drug clots the blood. That's the last thing you want to do is clot your blood more so. My doctor has also prescribed me tranexamic acid in the past, after doing so research I was so shocked. I research everything now, regardless of who advises me to take it.
Hi susanu, I take tramadol and paracetamol. It does work to take the severe pain away. You could also ask you doctor about fentanyl patches. It's a 3 day patch you apply to your arm which administer pain relief over 72 hours. It is morphine and it's equivalent to 8 tramadol daily so your doctor may not reluctant to prescribe it to you if you aren't taking that amount of pain relief daily. Also, they can be quite dangerous, so be sure to read about them.
