I had a laparoscopy last Tuesday (10 days ago now) where I had surgery for stage 4 endo on bowel, bladder, urea, Fallopian tubes - everything really as I have a “frozen pelvis”. After 4 hours the surgeons had to stop as ran out of time and have suggested I go for a second lap later this year.
I was bleeding straight after the op which was to be expected but I am still bleeding now. Not as much as if I was on my period but enough for me to need to wear a pad.
Is this normal to be bleeding for this long?
I was having problems with extended bleeding between periods for the few months before the op.
I am on the pill at the moment and not due in my period for a week.
Could the surgery have triggered an early period?
Thanks for any advice x

Hey I was the same i bled after my lap for around 2 weeks then came on again about 4 days after that stopped and I’m almost 5 weeks post op and still having a light period/ spotting and I’m also taking the pill so I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. I had a phone call after two weeks when it was calming down and the endo nurse wasn’t concerned about it at all. If you’re worried then I’d ring your GP or the day unit but I’m sure it’s fine x
I had mine don't 15 days ago and still bleeding not much tho. The doc said it will take time for the blood to stop and it's normal. I hope everything went well for u tho.
I bled like this, a really light period for about 3 weeks after my op. However, they did a smear test whilst I had my surgery and just said the cut inside my vagina hadn't healed yet and I had to wait. To be honest, I felt fobbed off! As we all are with our endo problems!
My doctor told me to stop the pill and have my period, but also told me it would be painful because I'd just had the surgery and it was. My bleeding still didn't stop so they gave me this cream to apply to the inside of my vagina via an applicator, could be worth asking about this?
Some people heal slower than others, but it's best to tell your doctor about these worries or visit a walk in centre - speeds things up and makes it more urgent xxxx
I had my first lap in September and I bled afterwards too. I bled straight after the operation, but when I got home i bled quite a lot. It freaked me out tbh, I thought it wasn’t normal, however your body has just gone through something traumatic so it will most likely be that. if you’re feeling worried I would definitely go see your gp, they will know exactly what is going on and reassure you if needed!
Hi,I hope ur ok. Just wanted to ask if ur bleeding has stopped or got worse? Mine was spotting after the operation but now 5 days of bleeding which looks like my period but it's way too early for my period.
Thank u for ur reply. Mine is exactly like my period, bright red and heavy so thinking its my period but not sure. 6 days now with that but my periods are normally 3 to 4 days long. I guess I'll wait n see how it goes if it doesn't stop then I'll see my doc. I hope ur recovering well n taking it easy.
