Has anyone been prescribed Oromorph?

Worst ever period, first one following laparotic surgery for stage 4 endo, DIE and bowel resection.

Had to go privately for op due to long wait. Prescribed Tramadol and lidocaine patches but had mild reaction to Tramadol. Endo nurse attached to private practice advised Oromorph but said you have to be admitted to hospital to have it prescribed. She advised going into private hospital again for an overnight stay to have it prescribed!

NHS aren’t going to admit for a drug assessment are they?

What I want to know is, Can the private consultant prescribe it without a hospital admission?

Can my GP prescribe it with a letter from the consultant.

Is it true you have to be admitted to hospital to have it prescribed?

Hi. Your GP can prescribe it for you. I have oramorph at home prescribed by GP and have done for over 2 year now. Sorry to hear your in alot of pain. If they won't speak to your nurse and ask her to get in touch with your GP

I have had oramorph and it's the only thing that helps the pain. The Dr can prescribe it but is reluctant. The consultant could Def give you a letter of you can push the Dr to give it. It's a fight but when your in pain it's awful.

my daughter is 16 and we have oramorph for when her pain is bad. It is prescribed by the gp. Keep pushing for it.

I got given two bottles of it from gynae a&e which thankfully lasted me until and after my surgery. After having gone to a&e multiple times for the pain I think they decided they didn’t want to see me again so sent me home with it!

Hi,Your gp can prescribe it, you dont need a drug assessment. I asked for it when i got it i told the gp that nothing else was working. Sometimes you have to be pushy with them.

Hope you get it x
