Hi all. I take a few supplements which may help the endo. I can't afford to do much more as I am unable to work due to my symptoms. The ones I currently take are: flaxseed, beetroot (hoping this will help my increased pulse ate), calcium with magnesium ( as I avoid dairy), motherwort ( this is new to me but canhelp with hormal imbalances - maybe it will stop me crying at the slightest thing), fenugreek ( think this helps with inflammation I also use it in casseroles ), feverfew ( I'm sure this one helps, I've been taking it for a few months now, good for edo and migraines), vit c with rose hip 1000 mg, olive leaf, i also add tumeric into casseroles. And aloe Vera.

The other ones that I've heard are good are milk thistle ( which I took for for several months) and vit d. I'm sure there are more.

I've also found swanson supplements to be good quality and cheaper then h&b on the high street. You can get swanson from healthymonthly.Co. uk. They often have good offers on. Which helps when you're on benefits or a budget. I've tried other brands, nature's wn,cytoplasm, bicarb etc but swanson suits me best and it's affordable and good quality. It was recommended to me by my homeopath.

For those of you with nausea ginger is supposed to be very good and peppermint. Using ginger in your cooking is probably the best way if you can stomach it. (I cant)

Posted this in the hope that it may help some one. X

Some will overlap but there's a nutritionist at work who noted the following for those with too much oestroven (mine is 226) despite having no ovaries/uterus!

Flaxseed contains lignan, a powerful phytoestrogen with the ability to lower estrogen by increasing a chemical that helps to flush excess estrogen from the body, according to Mother Nature.com.

Red Clover balances female hormones, reduces estrogen levels and is an old-time cancer remedy, according to Matthew Wood, author of “The Book of Herbal Wisdom.” It has been found to help prevent tumors from spreading and like soy, red clover contains genistein, a powerful estrogen-reducing agent.

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) has shown efficacy in reducing estrogens and increase progesterone in the body. It has become known for its action in treating pre-menstrual symptoms (PMS), where symptoms are recognized to be the result of an increase in estrogen. Licorice raises the blood pressure, so those with hypertension should use caution.

Evening Primrose Oil High in essential fatty acids, Evening Primrose Oil has been show to be effective in reducing the size of uterine fibroids, which are estrogen driven, according to Herbs2000.com.

Chasteberry or Vitex An herb that is used extensively to help a multitude of female hormonal problems, Vitex or Chasteberry helps to balance female hormones and reduce the effects of estrogen dominance.

ProSoothe Herbal Relief is an all natural herbal formula that significantly improves Uterine Fibroids, PCOS, PMDD and Endometriosis and gives relief from pelvic pain/cramps, irritability, tension, mood swings, acne, headaches, breast pain, bloating and weight gain. Pyridoxal 5' phosphate (activated B6) 50Mg-Provides essential nutrient that help to ease inflamation, pain and related depression. It contains: Vitex (chaste tree) extract (fruit) (5:1) 100Mg-Works syngerstically with the other herbs to smooth out hormonal fluctuation. Dioscorea (wild yam) extract (root) (10:1) 100Mg-Contains anti-spasmodic properties which have been shown to reduce cramps and reduces irritability and mood swings.

Dandelion extract (root) (4:1) 100Mg-Reduces water retention and is rich in vitamins the building blocks for the body to regulate itself. Bupleurum extract (root) (5:1) 100Mg -- Reduces fatigue and depression. Zingiber officinale (ginger) extract (root) 30Mg-Reduces bloating and stomach upset.

Silymarin One of the most consistently effective medicinal herbs on the globe. Its ability to defend and rebuild the health of the person by cleansing the liver, Silymarin is poised for a future as blessed as its past. There is no single plant that does as much for the body as milk thistle.

Melatonin has been shown to balance oestrogen excesses in the body and have very real epigenetic benefits. Or consider melatonin supplementation (3mgs max). Ask your American friends to buy it for you, or look for Asphalia a natural alternative.

Anti-Estrogenic Foods: There are many great foods that help the body detoxify estrogen. Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower & cabbage contain Sulfuraphane and Phenyl Isothiocyanates that enhance liver detoxification processes and destroy cancer cell formation. Anti-inflammatory foods that are rich in saturated and omega-3 fatty acids such as 100% organic, grass-fed beef & dairy, organic poultry, wild-caught Salmon and wild game are anti-estrogenic. Raw nuts and seeds such as almonds, pecans, walnuts, chia and hemp seeds are rich in anti-estrogenic plant sterols.

Anti-Estrogenic Herbs: Onions, garlic are rich in sulfur containing amino acids and the powerful anti-oxidant quercetin that both help the liver detoxify at a higher level and reduce the production of estrogen. Herbs such as oregano, thyme, rosemary, sage and turmeric are loaded with volatile oils that promote liver detoxification. Turmeric has a potent ability to destroy estrogen receptor positive cancer cells which are the most commonly found cells in breast, uterine, ovarian and prostate cancer. Using organic acids is an advanced strategy for liver and gut health that enhances the bodies’ ability to remove these unwanted estrogenic molecules. Squeeze fresh lemon, which is rich in citric acid, in water and on salads, veggies, meats and other dishes. Apple Cider Vinegar contains acetic acid, fermented raw dairy from grass-fed cows contains lactic acid. There are other products that contain fermented superherbs in an organic acid base that are extraordinarily powerful for enhancing detoxification processes and neutralizing bad estrogen metabolites.

Myomin inhibits aromatase, which can reduce levels of bad estrogens (estradiol and estrone), and promotes production of the good estrogen (estriol). It also acts as an aromatase inhibitor in both women and men. It has been shown to reduce estrogen levels in as little as 10 days and is beneficial for reducing abdominal fat and restoring muscle tone. It is the perfect supplement for women on HRT, even women on bio-identical hormone replacement.

Zinc, such as the one from Source Zone Optizinc plays an important role in hormone production and balance. Zinc helps to increase progesterone levels and lower estrogen. Excess estrogen can lower serum zinc levels in people who are estrogen dominant. More than 70% of women dO not get the minimum daily requirement of zinc from their diets. Zinc also has a critical role in male sexual function and is necessary for all aspects of male reproduction, including hormone metabolism and sperm formation and motility.

Great. How do you know your oestrogen levels?

in reply toBethleah

Ask your GP to take your oestriadol levels from a blood test - this should include any oestrogen which is found in your body not just from ovaries (oestrogen is produced by fatty tissue, the adrenal glands, the pituitary and of course ovaries).

Will do. Thanks

This is all very interesting but I'm not sure where to start! Surely you can't take all these supplements at once? Is it a case of try and see or is there one or two which are best? Thanks in advance 😀
