Third Consolidation Run

Woke up with achy legs and somebody told me to take a couple of aspirin to deal with it and so I did. Amazing, no more achy legs.

This was one of those days where my head could easily have sabotaged me but my music and mental strength pulled me through. First 5 minutes felt tough today. Up to 10 minutes felt like forever. I was on the flat path on the Heath by 15 minutes and I felt like stopping.

Once I hit 20 minutes I knew I would be alright but I had been tuning in much harder to Stiff Little Fingers, The Buzzcocks, The Stooges and Television to take my mind off my increasing sick feeling. The nausea felt a little worse this morning so I changed the route up to take my mind off it.

I started my descent towards the lido earlier by the running track and snaked around a long winding path. By the time I hit 5 minutes to go I ran around the lido car park a few times and then it was literally only the last 20 seconds uphill. I hit rush hour this morning and so running along Mansfield Road was much trickier which was why I ran around the car park in anticipation. I also definitely prefer Jo’s commentary!

Anyway, job done. Third run under the belt. I was only 30 seconds over the 30 minutes today as the app largely behaved itself but I am thinking of stepping up to 35 minutes on Friday on the Nike app depending how Wednesday’s run goes. I still don’t feel comfortable yet and I was huffing and puffing a bit at the end of the run. Earned my skinny latte and pain au raisin today!

Well done DL! 🙌🏼

I couldn’t find that post about the Nike app but I downloaded it myself and had a little listen.

Just in case you haven’t heard of it, there’s also another NHS podcast designed for C25K graduates called Stepping Stones. Sussex13 tried the first session the other day and she mentioned it has tips in the commentary which sounds handy.

Oops, this is assuming you have Apple..

You can google it anyways. C25K+ is its official name I think

35 mins from 30 mins is a 17% increase. Just saying. 😉

Maybe extend Wednesday's run to 32 min and see how it goes?
